It's hard to pick an overrated player on our team because the only one to consistently get praise is Vilma.

If I had to pick someone at this point, it would be Leon Washington. Many people seem to be high on him, but to me he's just a younger, more inexperienced Blaylock.

okay so he is on a bad team and because of that he has more tackles. So doesnt that make him that much better if he has to do everything by himself. its not his fault barton got injured give him the credit that he deserves

I have to laugh before I answer - cuz it's the only way I can keep my sanity. I don't think we have an overrated player. Our team is really so devoid of accomplished players it's hard to make a case that any of them are overrated.

If you held a gun to my head - I would prob say Penny. There is one play that I've never forgiven him for. I'm pretty sure it was in the playoffs - it was 3rd and less than 5. Santana was open on a short crossing route and Penny threw behind him. It was a big spot late in a pressure packed game. I've never gotten over that and his injuries haven't helped otherwise.

How effing random is this statement? Do they even track blocked shots? What does that have to do with making a tackle? Wouldn't it be checks that are more of an accurate comparison?

Lay off the Fruit Loops buddy.

Yeah - that play against the Steelers in the 2004 playoffs when the ball hit Moss right in the hands definitely makes Pennington overrated.

How can you call Pennington overrated when nobody thinks he can play anymore. In QB rankings he is not even in the top 25 going into this season. That is not an overrated player.

Abraham had his best season and you call him overrated? He played every game, led the team in sacks despite being double and triple teamed on every play, and despite the Jets being last in the NFL in passes attempted against.

Shaun Ellis is by far the most overrated Jet. He got elite DE money - $15 million bonus, and then disappeared. He had 2 1/2 sacks and was invisible after getting his pay day. Then he decided the season wasn't worth it and sat out the last few games with some BS injury. Some leader.

    I agree.

I think he's the only player on the Jets who is overrated. Only other player that is considered really good is Vilma, and he is really good.

i tihnk people are saying vilma is over rated since in the medias eyes...hes the only jet that is highly rated.

i wont be suprised if hes the only 90 or above on madden 07

    ellis, high 80's
    dyson, high 80's
    martin, 87ish

my point is, i think vilma is the only person on our team who is considered to have enough talent to be over rated in the medias eyes (even though he isnt)

i also think ellis is going to love the spotlight of #1 DE and will do much better now that he is the d lines center of attention, i feel he was a bit jealous of abraham for a few years

Kellen Clemens--treated like a surefire NFL starter when in fact he wasn't much more than a mediocre college QB.

There are a number of NFL QBs who were mediocre in college.

And I'm not saying that Clemens is not going to pan out. I'm just saying that as of now, there's very little reason to believe that he will (yet he is the most highly regarded Jets draft pick in 5 years somehow.)

 you win the $64 million prize! of course, you only get 36 games in 6 years for that money.

and the sunshine brigade said john abe was an overpaid whiner?
abe actually played in more games for much less money.:rofl2:

No one on the Jets is as overrated as, say, Daunte Culpepper is...

He didn't throw to him on that play. That was the same play where Chrebet was in the slot. Moss had a hook in down field wide open and Pennington threw a four yard pass to Chrebet on a drag route when it was 3rd and 7.
