I'd kind of like to see McNabb get a ring considering all of the shit he puts up with. But I hate Philly fans. I don't really care though, I just hope the Steelers don't win.
The Cardinals and Eagles have the same number of wins this season. As for the Thanksgiving night game, it was arguably the worst scheduling decision made by the league in the last quarter century. How could the schedule makers put the Cardinals in Philadelphia on a Thursday when they scheduled them to play a game against the defending Super Bowl champions the prior Sunday? The Eagles should have played a fellow eastern time zone team on Thanksgiving night. The Cardinals had no realistic shot to win that game. I don't think the Cardinals are significantly worse or significantly better than the Eagles.
the cardinals? seriously how can that be the number one team? the team that disregarded the run all year, the throw and throw team that plays no defense? the team that we laid 56 on and got the tar beat out of them the entire end of the season, the team that played a disgustingly weak schedule all year and still only won 8 games. mark my words if the cardinals get to the superbowl i will stop watching nfl football. i will find something else to do with my time on sundays. them getting to the superbowl makes it the exact opposite of what it claims to be, super because that team is FAR from super. the watering down of this league has gotten worse and worse the last 5 years and this would just be the icing on the cake. they wanted mediocrity and they have gotten it, that is a mediocre team in every sense and for them to end up playing for the superbowl would be absolutely disgusting. they might as well stop the regular season at 8 games and everyone gets to go to the playoffs. then all 32 mediocre teams can be mediocre in the longest playoffs ever. nothing annoys me more than mediocrity. and thats what the nfl is all about these days.
They won nine games. They won the same number of games as the Eagles. Would you be okay if the Eagles win the Super Bowl? The Rams only outscored their opponents by 14 points in the '79 regular season and finished with a 9-7 record. There were similar to the 2008 Cardinals you could say. The Rams won two road games (Dallas, Tampa Bay) in the playoffs to make it to the Super Bowl. They led the Steelers 19-17 after three quarters in the Super Bowl. This will not be the first time a mediocre team will play in the Super Bowl. Also, check out the 2007 Giants. Would you call them mediocre? You probably wouldn't until you look at their regular season performance. They were not vastly different results-wise than the 1979 Rams and 2008 Cardinals. The 2007 Giants outscored their opponents by only 22 points and struggled to beat some also-rans (Miami, Detroit, Chicago, Philadelphia).
If the steelers made it to the big game, I'd root for them simply because they're afc. But I'd rather see the Ravens go, because they have less success than the steelers. The only reason why I'd like to see the Eagles represent the NFC, is because they're a team that's been around for a long time, and never won a SB, and because I like McNabb, I think he's a class act. But if they make it, I'll go with AFC regardless. I want my team the Jets to represent the best most competitive conference. If us Jet fans have anything to boast about, it would be that. So, go AFC!
This is a tough one for me. I know very vocal...and sometimes irritating....fans of the Eagles, Ravens, and Steelers. But I'm really not a fan of the Cards and Warner (though I have a man crush on Fitzgerald). And I actually don't like seeing teams I don't think are that good going so far. I guess I'd like to see the Steelers play the Cards, and have the game go into like 40 consecutive overtimes before they finally have to call it a tie due to exhaustion and running out of commercial spots to play and since everyone has to go to work on Monday.
If the Cardinals get to the Super Bowl, they probably won't get spanked. They have played rough and tough most of the time under the new coaching staff. They get it from Ken Whisenhunt and Russ Grimm. Anquan Boldin, Adrian Wilson, and Darnell Dockett are among the toughest players in the league at their respective positions. Their teammates feed off it. If the Super Bowl is Arizona vs Pittsburgh, NFLN will be sure to replay the Steelers-Cardinals game from 2007. It was a good game. The Cardinals won it 21-14. The Steelers led 7-0 at halftime. The key play in the game was a punt return touchdown by Steve Breaston. Whisenhunt & Grimm vs. Tomlin for the NFL title- It's going to really sting the Pittsburgh organization if the Cardinals were to win. Remember, they chose Tomlin over Whisenhunt and Grimm.
I just hope we can finally have a Super Bowl whose outcome is not determined by the Refs or by "questionable" play by some of the key players. It may be too much to ask.
