Yeah, I thought it was a little much also but i read somewhere it's likely the Chargers will franchise Vincent Jackson and it's suppose to be somewhere around 10 million for wide receivers.
Holmes is not Vincent Jackson imo VJAX is on a slightly higher level in the sense that he can do everything. Holmes is a quick receiver and a deep threat, VJAX is a valuable possession receiver that is a size mismatch with whoever he faces.
Holmes and Cotchery. Edwards is good but IMO presents the least value for the dollar. BE's strength is in the vertical passing game which doesn't really fit into the jets MO. I like his physicality and size but I'd prefer Holmes quickness and range of talent.
As if the only things about Edwards worth considering are his size and deep threat capability. How about his toughness? How about his blocking? How about taking a personal foul, that will likely lead to a fine, and getting right up off the ground and telling Pitt they can't intimidate him or the rest of the Jets? Did you see Ryan's post game? He certainly thinks a lot more highly about Edwards than the naysayers here. The guy along with Weatherford were the two players who did the most to win the game yesterday. Yeah Smith and Taylor were also huge, but imo Edwards was the one who kept the O rolling, again and again. He had a huge day. Can't we have at least a little breather here from those who can't understand his value and diss him?
Cotchery is under contract so he stays. I'll say again, whoever steps up in the playoffs (between Edwards and Holmes) should get re-signed.
Actually we could re-sign Holmes and Edwards and trade Cotchery... I'd feel very sorry for the guy though. As of now I still believe the right thing to do would be to re-sign Holmes and keep Cotchery and draft a guy like Pettis or Little...
Braylon played great yesterday he made 3 beautiful catches. That 38 yard throw and catch was perfection. With the offense we ran yesterday Braylon and Holmes both are a big part of it, Cotchery wasn't even targeted once.
PS Also out of the 3 WRs we could keep two and franchise-then-trade the other... I'm sure we could get AT LEAST a 2nd or 3rd rounder...
I cant see Holmes going anywhere. If the Jets can't keep all 3 then either Cotchery or Edwards will go.
i thought the jumping catch down the middle and getting drilled by clark and holding on was huge... braylon actually looked excited about this game and delivered... also, was impressed by the crossing catch where i have no idea how sanchez got it past the defender and how BE caught it...
Those two and the 38 yard catch are the ones I meant. That throw and catch over the middle was amazing.
I don't see it. It would be shocking to get a third for either Holmes or Edwards under a franchise and trade-nobody is going to want to pay a high draft pick and the giant contract that a franchise and trade would require.
What do you mean "actually look excited" There's a misconception about Braylon dogging games, but he always gives 100%, he just isn't always featured in the gameplan.
Without reading all 9 pages of this thread, I definitely would choose Holmes out of the 3 (I assume that's also the consensus?)
Do you really think this organization would get rid of a player that gave it his all each season? That wouldn't be a good idea inside the locker room ... Tanny will do everything in his power to lock those guys up with Sanchez, surely he's going to cut and resign certain players, free up more cap space then go after these 2, after the Harris deal of course... IF I had to pick, it would be Holmes over Braylon
yeah, agreed - he just looked more pumped up than usual probably due to being involved in the gameplan much more; and i did read that during the week, he was excited because from the planning, he would be thrown to more often. loved the energy that he showed.
