Wrong. The NFL puts marquee teams (typically the SB champ with this year bring the rare exception due to league's 100th anniversary) in the opening game and the Jets are not there yet.
I’m good with the Jets being on Sunday, primarily because I might end up going to the game. Lots of cheap seat tickets available from $45. Not too bad.
Just hate the idea of Thursday night football in any way. But yea if I had the option would love to be watching them tonight and then get the 10 days off.
How does that make me wrong? Like I said, the NFL tells teams where, when & who they are going to play. The only option is to forfeit.
You're wrong because the NFL would never "tell" the Jets that they are playing in the opening game until they start winning big. Like I said that needs to be earned and they're not there yet.
I'll say it again. The NFL tells teams where, when & who they are going to play. You said it was an "option"...as in the Jets have a choice in the matter. They don't...other than a forfeit.
But the Jets do have a choice in the matter IF they win a SB. That's why I said they gotta earn it. That was my point. Then they will play on opening night as the defending SB champ has done for more than a decade now minus the 100th anniversary game this season.
"IF" they win a Super Bowl, they'll still have to play wherever, whoever and whenever the league tells them. There's no other way around it except to forfeit. That's the only choice they have. That's my point.
IF they win a Super Bowl they get to play in the opening game. That's completely different than what you're saying because it's a known commodity then as to WHEN they're playing. You're trying to say that it's up to the league at that point as to WHEN they play which would be untrue at that point because they'll have earned the right to play in the opener. The league will not dictate it at that point, rather the Jets will have earned that validation. Big difference.
