I'd still try and trade down for some picks and take Mendenhall if he's available!

the jets won't take a running back in the first round. they may not even draft a running back in the second round. but if ray rice is sitting in their lap in round two... lock him up.

RBs are a dime a dozen. Taking a RB with a top 10 pick is a waste. When you add in McFadden's problems and the Jets existing talent at the position, taking McFadden makes no sense. Plus, no teams are going to be looking to move to #6 to take him. When was the last time a team traded up to the early part of the first round to take a RB?? With Atlanta signing Turner, McFadden is going to drop like a rock.

  5. This is the exact stance teams took last year that made Peterson fall. I dunno bout you....but I sure as hell would take Peterson for the jets in a heartbeat.

I could understand the hesitance to take an RB before we made up grades to both lines and obvious other needs. But w/ Faneca and Jenkins already signed, and some other signings on the horizon...what is the issue w/ trying to upgrade an offensive skill position w/ arguably the best player available?

I just don't understand this take at ALL.

I think the problem is that McFadden is falling into the "overanalysis" trap. He has long been considered the top prospect in this years draft, and now as we're getting closer and closer, people are starting to nitpick and point out flaws that are getting overblown. Add to that fact that "late bloomers" like Mendenhall and Stewart had good combines, the proverbial gap is closing.

  7. Oh I absolutely agree. People arejust sick of him being in the spotlight that they are criticizing him every chance they get.

The only point I'm trying to make, is right now...he's likely the BPA at # 6. W/ all the moves we've made/are going to make....why would we bypass such a prospect for someone else..just b.c of the position he plays?? One that btw, aside from QB is directly involved w/ the most points scored on offense??

I completely agree with that. If McFadden is there, he IS going to be the best player available (except for maybe Gholston.) If someone as potentially dynamic as McFadden is staring at you in the face, considering the moves that have been made and those that still could be made (Woody/Olivea, Pace), he has to be the pick.

You are spot on.. besides the fact that he will most likely be the BPA, he also fill a desperate need for this team. By the time the draft rolls around and we keep filling holes in FA, offensive playmakers very well might be the biggest need for this team.

A three headed running game of Dmac, Jones & Washington along with a hopefully improved OL & it might not matter who our Qb is.

If this ever happens, trade down. The Cowboys parting with their two first rounders would be awesome. If not, someone with a mid first rounder (so that we have a shot at Groves) PLUS a 2nd and 4th rounder.

you take ray rice in the 3rd round, not the 2nd. Same with most of the backs in this draft. DMC/Mendenhall/Stewart are the only 1st round RBs.. maybe Felix jones. I dont see the second round being heavy RB. 3rd round is going to be the gold round for that position. Just my opinion.

We dont have a 3rd round pick though and I think Chris Johnson might have gotten his way to Round 2.

slaton fell out of favor with coach rod bc slaton told his teammates he wouldnt retur for his sr year early in the season, this ticked off coach rod and rod gave him less carries

They had one of the best freshman RBs in Noel Devine which is why Slaton lost carries. Add that he didnt start off hot and yeah.

Overanalysis? If anything, there has been underanalysis to this point: He has the worst fumblitis you should ever see in a second round draft pick, much less a top 5 pick. Everyone overlooks this and just says "Oh but he's such an amazing athlete! You can't pass him up!". He doesn't have the ideal build that you look for in a workhorse back. The guy has had children with two different women and has injured himself in bar fights. He has a foot injury that could come back to haunt him.

Yeah, this guy is the best player in the draft by far. We're over-analyzing this guy waay too much.

I agree. I don't think he's as good as advertised. He is not big enough, fumbles, and his judgment is questionable. Plus, he's a running back and I just don't think RBs should be taken early in the draft.

The fact that the Jets offensive line just got loads better I think the pass rush is more important. I thought we needed mcfadden because he was an explosive player who doesnt need necessarily a great offensive line becuase of his speed but I think Jones will improve drastically ie more than 2 td. I'm still torn between drafting a wide receiver or mendenhall. I think the need for a big time receiver is huge so I would give priority to that because Jones has gotten better. plus assuming we have another shitty season Chris Wells might be available
