Here's an idea no one has brought up yet. How about we don't extend Rex, but let him finish out his contract in '14. We see how things go and if it's anything like his last 3 years, he walks. If the team improves, give him an extension. Let Rex bet the house on 2014 and be done with the speculation. Since we don't do things conventionally, this would be quite an experiment wouldn't it...
Sounds good to me. Of course the NY media would make a big deal about this like it's such a terrible thing to do.
Jets, Jets Initially they need better players especially on offense. In the NFL you win with talent. There are many competent coaches out there, the Stanford coach comes to mind. The Jets job is a good one. There is no need to go for a big name. Let the players be the stars. Idzik will do his homework. But remember players not coaches win in the NFL.
Meant to quote this in my reply, sorry. This would be kind of hard to sell to any FA's we'd be trying to sign.
can't really do it b/c of the lame duck status, the Jets can afford to extend one year and if we aren't playoff contenders next year then they can eat the last year. I think rex has done his best coaching job these last 2 years and w/ the cap room and picks we have we can be a factor next year.
Barnes came here partly for money and partly because of Ryan. He was playing well and then got injured.
