Jon Gruden lost control of the Buccaneers. He had all sorts of fights with his own players. One of his Raiders players described Gruden as the "kind of coach who didn't like to listen as much as he liked to start a conversation and end it." Gruden also lost his final four games and his previously 9-3 team finished 9-7 and missed the playoffs. He has not coached since. Now, if the Jets want to bring in his younger brother for an interview I am very much in favor. Jay is bit less intense and I think that is a good thing at this time.
One thing to think about. I think it's pretty clear that Tanny convinced Woody that the Favre disaster was all Mangini's fault. He stabbed his friend in the back to save his own job. Certainly he'll do the same this time around if he gets the chance. Will Woody buy that line of BS? I'm guessing Woody and Tanny are closer than Rex and Woody. Thoughts?
That could be right. Tannenbaum has certainly been around Johnson longer than Ryan has. We know Tannenbaum is a snake oil salesman and a sycophant and he'll change his core beliefs like an anole changes its colors. Therefore, it is very possible that Tannenbaum will throw Ryan under the bus if it means saving his own ass. As an aside, my wife thinks his name is Tittlebum (we met him in the Hall of Fame Museum in August), so I may refer to him by that name here and there.
Can you not read or do math??? Yeah and more people want Rex then someone else ,How is someone else winning exactly???Who should be the coach of the Jets in 2013 is the question. Rex :45% Highest Other Option 12%
It depends. If we see a QB in this draft we want to draft or we are in position for it at the end of the season for a top QB (I don't see anyone currently in college FB) then I would fire Rex and grab an offensive oriented coach. If we aren't drafting the future QB, keep Rex.
true. paytons not coming.but the point was more people want rex to be out. ftr i only want him out if a new gm decides to let him go.
I agree with you on the new GM. And the Payton will skew it. It's like asking if we would rather Mark Sanchez, a rookie QB, or Matt Ryan starting next year. Matt Ryan is going to draw votes away but is unrealistic and more of a hope and whim than a potential fill in. Who knows if the people chose Payton but would rather Rex over the co. or they were going to want a change otherwise and going with Payton over the co. over Rex.
Voting for Payton isn't exactly wanting Rex out. It's just looking at a guy who has proven success on offense and QB development. If the poll was phrased, "Should Rex stay" and the choices were yes and no. I bet Rex would still be in favor. Payton's a pipe dream. I voted for Rex but I could see people wanting Sean Payton. I mean 3 people voted for Mangini
It would be so cool to have Chip Kelly here. That said I think we should really bring in an offensive minded coach. Our DL is shaping up to be VG and we have Cro & Revis (and maybe Landry)... anyone can get production out of those guys. What we need is someone who knows what the hell he is doing on the O side of the ball. Now is the time to develop something on O. S. Hill (as much as I despise him) and Kerley are young and have to become the backbone of our O... the same can be said for Keller. If we cna build something around these three guys and FINALLY give whoever is under center some stability in the pass catching dept. it would be great. What I'm most pissed about wih Rex is his loyalty to some underacheiving players like Scott and Smith.
Stupid losing franchises change coaches every few years. Successful franchises don't abandon the HC just because the team suffers key injuries and struggles to win games. Rex Ryan is here to stay.
With all this chip kelly talk who will be his qb. Last time I checked he doesnt use prototypical qb's. Only vick, tebow, or draft klein...
I must say, that I cannot see what you all have seen in Ryan as a head coach. I'm sorry. I know the team was awesome in overall defense in his first two years, but, I do think he is a very good defensive mind, more suitable to be a DC. As head coach, he has done very little to warrant staying on past the end of this year. The two AFC championship losses are now looking more like he got lucky with a core group of players assembled my Mangini. He got some slack last year, as a result of the two AFC title LOSSES. This year, it is time to clean house, and start over, primarily with a MUCH LESS TALKATIVE HC. and one who is committed to letting his teams play on the field, do the talking for him.
Please DO NOT bring in Norv Turner! That guy has no attention to detail. People are complaining about clock management and Sanchez turnovers now? Just wait.
