CO-SIGN. He's been a very solid right guard for years. He's very consistent in run blocking (especially around the goal line and in short yardage situations) and rarely gives up deep penetration on passing downs. His only weakness is he commits too many penalties, however, I would take an occasional 10 yard flag and consistent blocking over porous blocking with no penalties any day of the week. My second choice would probably be Eric Barton. He's been a consistently "solid" linebacker for years and has been versatile enough to play effectively in both the 3-4 and 4-3 schemes.
I'll go with Thomas Jones...He's much better than the season he had last year and MUCH better than the national press he has received!
ez. brad smith. he really hasnt been used much in the o yet, but on special teams he makes the world go round. he's always the first guy down to cover punts and usually makes the tackle. not bad for a converted qb right? i wonder how fast chad would be down there to cover kicks. hahaha. slash baby, slash. cant wait to see smith and keller on the field at the same time.
For non Jet fans I would have to say, I have three Mangold, Cotchery, and Leon for Jet fans I would say David Bowens
Cotchery. He is the best receiver on the team, but nobody knows it. He has put up very good numbers the past two years, but nobody realizes it. He has been in the top 5 in YAC, but people consider him a possession receiver. And there is a constant question about the quality of the Jets receivers. I think he is one of the best receivers in the league and will explode this year if he stays healthy and the Jets decide to throw his way a few times in the red zone instead of throwing a fade to Coles every other play.
Kerry Rhodes I know Jets fans love him but the rest of the league has yet to take notice. The last 2 years of pro bowl voting is a perfect example.
I think bryan thomas is better then what people give him credit for (he hasnt even been mentioned yet)....and from a non jets point of view you have to go with cotch..rhodes is STARTING to get recognized more
Chris Baker- great hands, good blocker. Most complete TE, on the roster. Baker never gets his due. All he does is catch most everything, thrown his way.Very underutilized, which was suprising, being the dink and dunk offense, we've employed. I can see Baker having a big year, with Keller used more as a WR, then a TE.
Bryan Thomas HIMSELF admitted that he slacked off and didn't take his gameplay seriously last season. Are you really pushing that nomination? One good season- ONE, and coincidentally that was his contract year! If we were asking for "Smelliest Lump of Shit" on the team, he'd certainly be in the running, along with Sean Ellis.
bt is a smelly lump of shit, but i think shaun ellis is ganna make u eat those words, and it will not taste good
Don't get me wrong- I was a huge Ellis supporter up until he signed the new contract. I'm hoping that he turns things around with Jenkins lined up next to him.
I think this depends on who you're asking... If you're talking to a Jet fan who watches every game (like most of us here) I think you'd have to go with a guy like Bowens or Moore. Bowens, despite the fact that he is a LB by nature, and not big enough to be an every down DE, played MUCH better than the ridiculously overrated Kenyon Coleman when given time at DE last season, both against the run and pass. Aside from the obvious stars on our defense from last season (Revis, Rhodes, Harris), I'm willing to say I saw more positive things out of him than any one player on this D last year... And Moore, not because he's anything more than slightly above average, but just because Jet fans seem to be under the impression that he's terrible. For fans of other NFL teams/casual football fans, I think Cotchery wins this one, hands down. Other than Jets and Pats fans, nobody seems to know, or care who Cotchery (who had his first 1,000 yard season despite being less than an impressive athlete, by NFL WR standards) is. Cotchery, to me, can be a Hines Ward type for his entire career, quietly doing the little things, and making the tough catches, while being a reliable target for whomever the QB may be. Hopefully he will start to get the recognition in the near future...
