I'm hoping like hell a new CBA gets reached. This limited free agency rule is gonna kill us and limit what we want to do. Everyone is saying cut Coleman, Lowery, Sheppard, trade Rhodes. Exactly how the F are we gonna replace them with this FA rule in place??
This thread has some off the wall shit. I guess it's to be expected after a tough loss. Like alot of message members....you need to think before you post.
Wait so your saying that trading our only first round pick to the Browns so we can draft Eric Berry is "off the wall shit" really I had no idea
I agree with Mr. E in that moving Sheppard and Rhodes would be ideal. Try and recoup a pick for sheppard would be great. I had decided if we can move rhodes in some deal that either nets us an elite pass rusher or Eric Berry then ok by me, but otherwise keep him. Now I would like to try and move him in a deal that nets us a 2nd or as part of a deal netting us an elite pass rusher or Berry. Also cutting coleman shouldnt result in a difficult problem replacing him, I mean we could grab a udfa who can get burnt to a crisp on a regular basis.
Unfortunately we're not getting Berry in any trade scenario. He's gone in the top 5 picks of the draft.
In or to get a 2nd round pick, what would we have to package with Rhodes? I want to draft a DB/OL/DL/WR/ (3 of those, depending on who's available) in the first 2 rounds of this draft.
Same as before the game. We need in order DL, OL, S, CB. Ideghibo was a disaster out there, no D-lineman made any impact, Woody might false start himself off the team. Please stop with the WR BS. If you think we need a WR, you don't know football. Look at Garcon, Collie, Edelman et al. Its the QB, not the reciever.
Rule... man....be real. First, Sheppard isn't going to be traded. LS will either be signed at a reduced rate or not retained. The Jets have no leverage in trading Sheppard. After today, not starting, I would say Rex has little confidence in Lito....probably gone. Berry is a top 5 lock. Where are the Jets going to get the ammo to trade up for Berry? Mangini isn't in control of the Brown's draft.
I'm all for drafting someone who has a name similar to Spivey, that would be fantastic. I vote best CB available at #29, but I have no idea if that's a bad spot to do so; I'm bad with this draft stuff, and there's so much crazy talk in this thread I can't really discern what's realistic. Edit: What about this Patrick Robinson fellow? He seems promising.
Everyone is hating on the secondary today because manning just tore it apart, but we did have the #1 pass defense in the league, cleaning house back there because of one game, not matter how painful, is not the solution. Adding another corner would be ideal though, however berry and haden are clearly beyond reach for us.
No one that knows anything about football is saying that we should clean house. It's hard to get passing yards on a team that has the best corner in the game. Half of the field is taken away because of Darrelle Revis. Drew Coleman has been absolute garbage since we drafted him. Jimmy Leonhard over-achieved this season, and I'm okay with that. He had a damn good season. Lito Sheppard should only be brought back if he signs a deal that doesn't cost this team very much. Dwight Lowery should be on this team. He has the ability to be a very good nickelback in this system. Kerry Rhodes had very little to do with that #1 pass defense. The guy stepped it up in a few games, but he only plays for himself, not this team. Yeah, adding a few new defensive backs for be ideal. This draft is loaded with safeties, and it also has a lot of good corners.
I love when people try to tell me I don't know football. If you knew football, you'd see that we have no one this team that can line up in the slot and consistently get open. We need a Pierre Garcon or an Austin Collie or a Brandon Stokely type player on this team. Having a player that can get open over the middle will make Mark Sanchez so much better. Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie are very good, promising young players. Yeah, I agree that Peyton Manning makes them better, but that's his job. Collie and Garcon are very talented receivers. Julian Edleman had two or three pretty good games. He's still a work in progress.
Earl Thomas is a sure-fire first rounder. He'll probably go somewhere in the teens. I have him rated ahead of workout warrior Taylor Mays. Nate Allen has a chance to fly up boards and get selected at the back of the first, but he'll more than likely be a second rounder.
Taylor Mays will contribute in the NFL. Gholston can't even do that. In my opinion, Mays should be converted into a 4-3 linebacker. The guy loves to hit, but he's got suspect coverage skills. If he learned how to play the position, he'd be an extremely athletic LB for a team that runs a scheme like the Cover 2.
Curious but why do we pick 29th? SD(16th pick in 2009 NFL Draft) picked before NYJ(17th pick in 2009 NFL Draft) despite advancing to the divisional round with an 8-8 record while NYJ missed the playoffs but had a 9-7 record. Woulden't we be picking 21st since we didn't make the super bowl? I thought only the final 2 teams get slotted at 31 and 32..............
