Disagree, I think really poor drafting and talent evaluation did him in. Kept guys shouldn’t, let guys go that should have stayed. He hired OCs that had loads of experience. But just not the right one. With a better QB we almost certainly would have won a SB in 2010 ( if we had Farve per se). One thing about rex he stood behind some guys like Sanchez too long, to a fault. And that did him in.

No, but I prefer a HC who isn't an assclown and an embarrassment to the team, and actually cares about and knows how to coach the whole team.

Rex was part of that poor drafting and talent evaluation and he was responsible for jettisoning some of the good players that Mangini had brought to the team that resulted in the runs in 2009 and 2010. Rex got rid of those leaders and players and the team fell apart because Rex couldn't lead shit.

LOL best coach the Jets have had in 2 decades. Or maybe you were a Todd Bowles fan.

I totally disagree regarding Rex. He made his name on the team that Mangini built. They were a smart, tough, disciplined team. Mangini had been too controlling and too much of a micro manager. That created a tense atmosphere. Rex came in and was like a breath of fresh air for the players with his antics. Teams who have had strict disciplinarian coaches, always have a bump for a year or two when that is followed by a players' coach, but things fall apart after that due to the lack of discipline and control, and that's exactly what happened with the Jets. It was hastened in the Jets' case however, because following the 2009 season, Rex started getting rid of the leaders who were starters, and players that Mangini had brought in who were good role players and who contributed to the chemistry. Following the 2010 season, Rex got rid of even more of those players. As a result, the team stayed pretty much in the crapper from 2011-2014.

I never wanted Bowles, never liked him, but at least he wasn't a loudmouthed blowhard like Rex.

I'm not sure what you're disagreeing with. I said Rex was a one trick pony, and implied that he didn't or couldn't do the things you mentioned.

I don’t think that Rex was horrible. Actually Thought he was pretty good coach with the flaws I mention. I enjoyed his time here. With different QB. Could have been different. Maybe a different post where someone said he sucked balls. Which I think is an overstatement and untrue. Gase and Bowles sucked balls not Rex!

Well I wouldn't say "Rex sucked balls", but what I think was the worst part of him being HC is that he wasn't ever going to be good enough to win a SB, but he might be just good enough to take them to the p.o. once in a while and be able to keep the job - a case of "The good being the enemy of the best".

I really think Rex needed established all-pro QB (Farve staying couple of yrs), not a rookie he hand picked, that turned out not good enough. Actually Sanchez lost the 2010 CG with stupid fumble for 6 at end of half. I think we could have won SB that year. The team other than Sanchez was good enough. But QB play was not good enough ultimately. I disliked Sanchez, and feel about same about Darnold. I am convinced we had Farve we would won a SB. But I don’t think he wanted jets, he wanted Vikings... unfortunate.

Come on man it can't go both ways. Its Mancini team but Rex just got lucky. Now not buying that at all. Listen you can hate him but he took the Jets further than Mancini ever did. That's straight facts. Loudmouth yes he was no doubt.

The 2009 and 2010 Jets seasons were the best times I’ve had as a fan...Whatever Rex did wrong after that it was worth it

It most certainly can. Rex had a couple of wrinkles, but once the rest of the league caught onto them, he had nothing. It's a fact that Rex and Tanny started dismantling the team that Mangini and Tanny assembled, and it was glaringly obvious by 2011 that the Jets had lost their leaders in the locker room and on the field. They became sloppy and undisciplined like Rex. I didn't say that Rex just got lucky. Those are your words.

I despised Rex because of his stupidity and all the things he did wrong, and all the ways in which he made the Jets a clown show and the laughingstock of the NFL. He was a brash blowhard who talked tough but coached like a pussy. He was a total fraud. If you want to be blind to who and what he was and what he did and kiss his balls, be my guest. I choose to be realistic.
