by the way, NY is only 51%-49% preferring the SC Finals over the NBA Finals and that's/ a team in the Finals.
Your reading comprehension is terrible. I never called ESPN a basketball website, I did not reference your previous poll because it had nothing to do with the original post. I was challenging you to find a poll which actually addressed the OP's original question not some topic you decided to divert to.
And because of the lockout. It rated worse than MJ's first retirement finals and was the worst rated final since the '81 final. No there are less mandated TV stoppages in hockey in than in other timed sports. Obviously in football there is a stoppage after every single play. Basketball and hockey are less frequent but again NBA has more mandated TV timeouts and timeouts in general than hockey. MLB is also stoppage after every play, but it's not a timed sport. ESPN signed on and opted out after lockout. Then next time around NHL chose NBC and ESPN been giving NHL subpar coverage on their networks. Granted, their networks in general have started giving less analysis in general of sports, but they've always kept hockey talk low and highlights lower. It is what it is thought. All that added up, less popularity. Those are the obvious factors. I'm sure there are others, but for TV those are the main reasons. Also in general NBC is not a great sports network when they get sports recently.
LOL, I used the whole league. You are the one that tried to use one city that the numbers were completely skewed for.
Inferiority complex, I just cut and pasted the original post since you seem to forget. I told you to try again since your post had nothing to do with watching a sport in person.
this was your quote(by the way you haven't shown anything either) someone does have reading comprehension issues, it's not me. the first Finals post MJ in 1994 went 7 games and was a competitive series, the 1999 one went 5 and was a blowout. but play still stops and they have a chance to show replays. less commercial time would be more appealing when watching a game though, right? I hate commercials. The NHL BOUGHT rights to air games on NBC after the lockout, while the NBA was paid almost a billion a year by their TV partners. The NHL signed a new deal w/ NBC and are actually getting paid now but it's not close to what the NBA is getting and the NHL should be smart enough to realize taking less to be on espn/abc would be better than the slightly more they'd get on NBC. the top teams skew the #
I was challenging you to find a poll that addressed the actual thread. I qualified my response that it not be from a basketball website since it would not give a good cross reference for a poll. Once again, I wasn't referencing your previous poll and was not really paying attention to where it came from because it had nothing to do with watching sports in person.
I don't need a poll, it doesn't prove anything either way. I like what I like, you like what you like.
But you were the one stirring things up in the first place. No one was really paying you any attention so you had to start ratcheting up with posts like these. Don't act as if everyone just jumped on you because you don't like hockey, you wanted the attention you got it.
I didn't stir anything up, I offered my opinion. I even said I like hockey I just prefer other sports but that's not good enough for some folks. I don't need attention, the folks that come after me are the ones seeking the attention b/c they know my posts get attention.
Sorry junc, but you did. It's not so dissimilar from the soccer threads back in the day, which is which I had so much fun with you in the NCAA BB threads.
the difference here is I like hockey and it's not a complete bore like soccer but there are similarities.
Lol I know, but I also know that you like to argue for the sake of arguing, which is fine, but don't pay the victim and say you were just stating your opinion and ready to move on.
I am never ready to just move on but I did just state my opinion. what fun is just posting an opinion and not following up?
You always go far beyond that point, we both know that. And I don't have any problem with that. Just stop playing the victim.
Have you seen the weekday TV ratings for Judge Judy?!? Holy shit that must be one exciting LIVE courtroom. Man, if I was a lawyer I'd love to argue a case in front of her--LIVE. You know, because of the incredible TV ratings. _
