I learned fifty years ago not to get angry - it's an emotion that consumes; I settled for basic frustration. What has been harder to accomplish though, was in those few brief moments in the last half century not to allow myself to get too excited when it ever looked like the corner was about to be turned.

Some day they will turn the corner, simply due to the law of averages, if nothing else and I hope to be around to see it. In the meantime, I can watch every week with few expectations and some cautious optimism while my frustrations come more from those whose fervid irrational exuberance shout "Championship" at every turn than what the team itself does on the field.

I don't think this old dog could learn the trick of rooting for another team without becoming one of those winning bandwagon riders before I turned ten years old - any older than that only scorn is required.

Hah! You think that there is such a thing as quarterback security? Are you one of the guys who celebrated Sanchez, Darnold, Wilson and Favre and Rodgers? How much "security" did they deliver? This is the New York Jets - there is no security at any position. "Hello? You play to win the game!"

Get back to me with your tanking plans when they come with a guaranteed performance draftee.

I cant watch anymore. I am in the UK but I have been watching the Jets firstly through highlights in the late 80's, then live Radio, finally internet. Up at all hours to watch games at 3 and 4am in the morning. I moved to canada for 10 years and it was easier as at least the games were on at a normal time on Sundays.

I cant watch this season. I watched the opening game and well. I cant watch us lose like this anymore. Now we are 0-4. I will never support another team. So basically I am falling out of Love for the NFL. I have a ticket for the London game as that is my Soccer teams stadium. So would be wrong not to go and with them being so close. I have l flown to NY many times, texas and Buffalo to watch games. But This is the lowest I have felt. its just too many bad seasons rolled into it. So many years of not even sniffing the playoffs. The team looks bad. 3 hours of pain and then another defeat.

It nots like I have better things to do. But being awake at 1am on a Tuesday morning until 4am UK time to watch them lose to the 0-3 dolphins. I cant anymore. I need something from them. A sign they can get better. but I dont see it at all.

Funny that this thread started about the time I was evaluating my Jet experience.

29 years fan. All of them season ticket holder. Went to last two UK games at Wembly and Tottenham.

In all those seasons, I would eventually realize this team was not going to win games and thus I would concentrate on the tailgate and the fan friends I’ve met and developed over these years.

I’ve reached that point once again. I won’t be disappointed in Jets performance. That is not why I do this.

It’s always come back to the tailgate. Best part of my Jets experience.

Hope to see you at Redemption brewery before the October 12 game at Tottenham.

Best comp I can think of for Darnold's career arc is Alex Smith. He took a while to figure it out but when he did he was what I'd call an "elite game manager". Didn't set the world on fire but was extremely efficient and good enough to win with.

Darnold was on a very solid trajectory coming out of his rookie season. The decision to hire Adam Gase was one of the most confounding decisions in franchise history and will haunt the Jets for years to come.

15 years ago I knew the backups of every team. I was fully enveloped into the NFL. I was a rabid, foaming at the mouth Jets fan. I watched every Jets game and just about every other game I could. Today, I’m not even sure who starts for most teams. I spend more time watching college QB’s in hopes maybe we land one someday, but my interest in the NFL in general is at al all time low thanks to what Woody has been doing to us.

I tend to get more into the other sports I follow, mainly soccer as my team there is doing fairly well at the moment - I rarely watch a full jets game anymore as it isn't enjoyable and the result seems like a foregone conclusion and if we do win I et little enjoyment out of it as even if they win a battle (game) you know they will lose the war (season).

I can tell where my fandom is at as the Jets are coming to the UK soon and normally this would've been one of the highlights of my year - now I look at ticket costs and hassle to get down to London and just thought "I can't be arsed" and I am not going, which previously I would've seen as unthinkable.

Sadly I think Woody may be the antidote to the law of averages
