A few weeks ago I really thought I would be updating the 'List of NFL teams that finished a season at 1–15' Wikipedia page. Not that the Jets would finish 1-15, but that they would be the "1" again for a record third time! Thank you Cleveland!
The Jets really lacked that TE up the seam that Herndon would've provided. That and the fact that he was a solid safety valve for Sam.
I thought Osemele and Kalil would provide a huge huge help and stabilize our line. I thought Darnold woul dhave around 3800 yards and at least 25 TDs.
I thought with Darnold, Gase's offense would be better than it was in Miami. Something like league average. We did not get that. The OL made things worse, but I'm disappointed in Darnold and Gase.
I thought Osmele would be good, our secondary would be bad, and that Darnold would progress even though Gase is a bad coach. None of that happened. Secondary wasn't good but it wasn't as bad as I thought
I thought Bell would miss some time with injuries after missing last yr. Thought Sam would at least have Tannyhill numbers. Did not expect R Anderson or J Adams to have as good of yrs as they had
The defense in the second half of the year I got right I just thought we would be that good all year if everyone stayed healthy The oline I thought would be serviceable and not historically bad...I guess in retrospect it’s hard to be serviceable when you don’t even have one above average player of 5 along the line I thought we would steal a few wins early on but obviously that didn’t work out without Sam
After sobering up to the reality that Mike M wasn't coming here and we were getting Gase I bought into the Gase /Darnold connection that this HC would light a fuse with the Kid...plus Shddy Toddy took us to 10 wins his first year. Now the team had Mosley Bell a new Offensive scheme plus a GM who knew his HC...yikes did that dream blow up fast!!! So Very wrong Jets can go 6-2 but against the League weaklings Now I have Ryan Tanneyhill to watch lighting things up minus AG
I was wrong about being a playoff team. Bills week 1. Dolphins and Bengals. Should have went 10-6. Oh well 7-9 it is.
Where's that old poll someone started before the season? I predicted 7-9. I was right. That probably means I'm gonna die tomorrow.
I thought Poole would be a lesser player in coverage, he surprised me there. I thought with a new coaching staff and a record spending spree in the off-season we would hit 10 wins. I also thought the Bengals and Dolphins were going to be easy wins. Live and learn.....
Hence the live and learn..... But on the bright side, when your offense is dead last, it can't go any lower!!!
