I thought that sack was on Faneca too. The lineman switched inside and Faneca missed him.

With the 1:00 games, I was most focusing on the Titans-Bengals game because the TEN RBs are two of my favorite players to watch.
Rivers is a fine player. I will repeat till I'm blue in the face that this particular linebacker is so versatile that he could play in the 4-3 or 3-4.

I don't care where Gholston was, let's focus on the important things first. His progression can take a backseat to this team getting back on the right track and growing some balls/

Rivers is fine, but you always go pass rusher over LBer unless there's no more pass rushers...

You think the Pats woulda taken Rivers or Mayo over Gholston?

I'm gonna watch Rivers closely though....

Besides Thomas is doing enough to warrant being the starter.

Shocking to say, but thankfully Thomas is doing well since Gholston obviously hasn't grasped everything yet.

Let him get his occasional reps like he is and slowly he will start to get it...

It's not like the coaching staff doesn't notice and won't chew him out on it.

You don't go pass rusher over linebacker if the pass rusher is not good. I never thought Gholston was a future NFL star when I saw him in college. He always looked like another Aundray Bruce to me- a high pick who looks good in pads, but is not a good enough player to star, but is good enough to play in the league where they play for pay for a decade.

Of course...but seeing as both are two games into their careers I see no point in anointing either good or bad...especially when one isn't even starting...

    I'm crazy, I know.

  11. We're talking about a guy who has the all time single season sack record at OHIO STATE...who lit up the combine at a position where triangle numbers actually matter! Last time I checked the 2 main things you look at when evaluating college talent is on field performance and physical skills. WHen you factor those 2 things...Gholston was a no brainer.

Does Art Schlichter still hold many of the OHIO STATE passing records?

Many of the players who had high sack numbers in college did not make it in the NFL.

With Gholston, I saw a stiff player who was poor in coverage. I only saw him do one thing well in college and that was rushing the passer with much of it based on raw strength. That's not going to quite cut it in the NFL.

  13. I can buy the poor coverage...but last time I checked Shawn Merriman wasnt great in coverage either. A guy w/ Gholston's skill set(once he learns the proper technique and gets up to playing speed) can be brought in solely to attack the LOS against the run and pass. Which is exactly how SD uses Merriman. He may never be Mike vrabel or Mo Lewis...but he can become a terror for O-lines, QB's and Rb's.

Hi guys, just checkin in to see how things are goin :)

    Oooooooops.............I'm sorry.............................

I'll go back to reading the threads instead.

    Mmmmm, Let's summarize:

Beaten by Matt Cassel, #6 pick is a bust, Favre can't look any older than he is now, and Eric Mangini is your coach, oh wait, the Yanks will be watching the Sox AGAIN in October. mmmmmm what else, oh wait, you have to go and play a really angry SD team and are surely looking to come out of the gates (1-2), mmmm, anything else.........nothing I guess, keep the threads going, good reading here.

    Cheers :)

  15. Classy words, from a classy man from a classy city. By the way man...you might wanna change your screename...that guy Brady...yeah he blew out his ACL AND MCL last weekend...just thought you might like to know.

Here's the really scary thing, can you imagine if Brady did play today...yowzer, it would have been ugly......................

I'll be honest, Chad Pennington always played us tough and honestly, I think you should have kept him. Favre's age and undisciplined approach is going to cost you more games than you think. Atleast Chad stayed within the offense and for the most part, took care of the ball. Good luck in SD next week, that team is going to be extra-ticked after today's robbery in Denver.

Shows you how great our football team is to be able to come in here when everyone in NY chaulked this game up as an automatic W and to walk out of there 19-10 victors with a QB that hasn't started a game since 1999 in high school. What does that say about the current state of things?

no one gave this an automatic W. When you are correct you will be taken seriously.

  20. Anyone w/ a brain knew the game was going to be an early season dog fight. The QB position is vastly overblown in the NFL, specifically by the media. It WAS a dog fight...and for the first time in a long time...the jets were not dominated physically by the pats.

In some aspects..they had the better athletes. Patriotsj ust have more history and experience w/ execution...perhaps that's something the jets gain w/ time that brings them even w/ the Pats. Today was not the day.
