We fleeced the Redskins by getting a 4th round pick for an aging malcontent who's skills had fallen WAY off. We had 3 guys in Clarke, Jones, and Bender to fill the gap. Sadly, none of them stepped up.
As a Kendall supporter you have no argument from me there , a 4th rounder , WOW! Came as no surprise when Gibbs took 2 timeouts either. Thickskins:deadskins:
Fleeced??? Dude... The Jets Offensive line was crap all year, Tangini had no replacement for Kendall. For a measly 1 mil, the Jets could have solved their biggest problem. Instead, we have a nice draft choice or two... No QB, no RB, no OL, the defense doesn't fit a 3/4, the secondAry's just average and the linebackers (except for Harris--and Vilma's out the door?) have been nothing to write home about... Exactly whyare you so happy the Jets got a 4th round draft choice for a player who was a 'steal" when he left Arizona for NY?
Kendall sucks just like the 3 other awful linemen they played all year. This oline was gonna suck even with Kendall.
Looking at how the situation has turned out, I'd rather have the 4th round pick then a guy who would just throw another tantrum this offseason. He may have helped this line a little bit, but he wasn't going to be the impact player that righted the wrongs on our offensive line. In hindsight, good deal.
Maybe maybe not, but hes still playing and the jets are still looking for his replacement. So who gets the last laugh?
Kendall. But not because he's some kickass player, it's just that we got guys who sucked more than he did. Congrats to him for being marginally better than Clarke at this point in his career though. Congrats to him for being on an offense whose running game fell off significantly this year too.
I think some of you guys are underrating Kendall. His skills were falling off, but let's be honest, he's a lot better than the guys we've plugged in there. He would have helped the line a lot this year, which may have been the difference of a couple games, it's impossible to quantify. Kendall wasn't some great lineman, but he was still average to above average and didn't hurt the team. And a solid enough guard in Kendall is much better than the crap we threw out there. Getting a 4th rounder is a solid deal, but it would be a lot better deal if the pick were actually this season...
You know we lost half of our starting o-line in the first 2 games of the season right? Kendall has played very well for us, it was win-win for the redskins and jets. We get kendall and a possible superbowl appearance, you get a 4th rounder in 2 years. Had we not lost our entire right side of the o-line and our center for 3 games our running game would have been much better.
Offensive line is so dependent on team work, coordination, and knowing where and when your linemates are that it isn't funny. It's much different than the relationship on the defensive side of the ball. Despite a year under his belt, there's no doubt that D'Brick regressed this year. I thought last year he was sligthly better than average overall. This year, he was definitely below average. Considering he was a sophomore and not a rookie, that's not good. I though Mangold fell off A BIT, but not anywhere near as much. Don't even get me talking about Kendall's replacements. I'm only glad that none of them did like that Eagles tackle against Osi Osimaura (sp.?) almost getting McNabb killed a few months ago. Let's face it: 2 years into this regime, our O-Line stinks, the defensive line and linebackers are bad, and we have no QB. Not good, guys.
