i wouldn't call moss' career with the jets a success. he has gone on to a successful career, but his time here is pretty forgettable.
Watching him is what got me into football (my dad indoctrinated me to like the Jets, but Toon pulled me into the game).
Spot on with Meshawn. Most successful part of his tenure with Jets was duping Tampa into 2 first round picks. suckas!
Great post--very interesting. I'd say Eddie "the flea" Bell, Mathis, and Gaffney made an impact, no? Gaffney as much as Cotchery to this date. As I recall, Mathis had a helluva year or two and then was signed away as an FA, to Buffalo maybe? Could be wrong.
rob moore was a very successful receiver. all pro no but a definite number 1 receiver and one of the better ones we have had.
Terrance Mathis was signed by Atlanta and had some pretty good seasons there.I wish we used him better here.
Yeah--definitely Rob Moore--he's not listed as a number 1 due to his supplemental status but he counted for a number 1 I believe. ^Atlanta, right.
Bell and Townsell could have been bolded. It's all about how one goes about defining "solid impact", I suppose. Townsell was voted the team MVP in 1989, if I recall. The team was putrid that year, but it certainly wasn't Townsell's fault.
Moore actually was an All-Pro level wideout. He was a consensus choice as a 1st team All-Pro in 1997 while playing for Arizona. Herman Moore was the other 1st team wideout that season. Moore caught 97 passes for 1584 yards and 8 touchdowns in 1997. For his career, Moore caught 628 passes in 153 games. He was forced to retire at the age of 31 due to a knee injury.
who else remembers: key beating the jags single handed to reach the afc champ game rob moore going totally horizontal to make an amazing catch while getting killed over the middle toon looking like a yound randy moss game after game wesley throwing a blind eye to make an incedible over the shoulder td catch to beat miami. again.
