Ummmm, since we're a big market team I'd rather have an uncapped year than a lockout. Both disgust me though, I hate the idea of no cap screwing up the competitive flow of the league.
If I'm not mistaken the lockout comes right after the uncapped year. I think the argument for or against the cap really comes down to parity in the league. Frankly, if there was any then I could see reason for a cap, but there is no parity. ESPN did a great piece in the magazine a couple of weeks ago. Basically when you have teams that perform like garbage for extended period of times, while other teams are dominating for extended periods of time you know that these are organizational issues more so than financial issues. These "apocalyptic" scenarios about how without a cap some small market teams will become like MLB small market teams. I think your dealing with completely different animals and it is unfair to compare them. This is because in MLB, the smaller market teams tend to be terrible, while in the NFL it is the opposite case. Why you may ask? It goes back to the original point, money does not matter, it is about organizational issues. Look if one really wants to restore parity it can't be done over night, the case and point getting back to baseball, the Ray's, ok that team sucked for years but they hired the right staff and now they have a nucleus to build on despite being a small market team
