Tannenbaum better do what it takes to avoid the passion of the Revis. The comparison didn't work out too well for the Romans.
LOL. This should have been a thread like 2 months ago. We've already brought in a new OC and the pieces to return our offense to ground and pound. Trading the farm for Brees this late in the off season after the team has been working to learn the new system, would be asinine and we'd REALLY have to give up more than its worth. I'd rather see our offense built around Sanchez who I'm confident will become a great QB between this year and next while retaining our other pieces. Besides. We all know if we trade Sanchez, he'll have an amazing season next year while Brees struggles or gets injured. Revis is vital to our defense. If we traded for Brees, we'd have to sign a whole bunch more players to replace the ones we lost. Where are we going to find a decent corner or center at this stage in the game? Without Mangold, even Brees will struggle with that line, unless the other 4 players improve tenfold.
I'd trade the best cornerback in the league for the best quarterback in the league any day of the week. I love Revis, but you can't turn down that value.
Wait a minute Im confused. Who would the Saints play at QB then? No way would they want Sanchez he is only serviceable in a run orientated offense.
Nice dream but wouldnt happen for a variety of reasons. First and formost, as pointed out by LTJF, Revis cant be traded because it would kill your cap, not relieve it. Second, the Saints wont trade Brees until he hits the stage of his career where Peyton is at, who incidentally is a big reason Brees hasn't signed. If they get to that point then compensation will be numerous first and second rounders. Also, the Saints dont want Sanchez, they'll draft and groom a kid in the next several years to replace Brees.
I'd trade anything to get him, because a stud Qb can carry an otherwise defunct team. Only problem might be formations, as I think Brees works much better in the spread system (both at Purdue, with the Saints as well) and we don't employ the spread. But offensively, with Holmes, Hill, Keller, he would have the weapons he would need. Although saying all this, it's pretty much null and void, because they would never trade him unless it was for a series of draft picks, and a team like the Browns or Seahawks would give up entire draft plus players for him, so we wouldn't match up.
I agree. Football success is generally more about teamwork, planning, attitude, and, in general, smarts rather than pure skill. A good system will more-often-than-not beat a more talented team with a lesser system. I think Brees success can be partially chalkedup to a great system. He runs it well and has the required skills for the qb, but I think taking him out and bringing him to NY is only part of the equation. Revis, on the other hand, is more of an absolute.
