Also another thing is that breed is on the wrong side if 30. If this Rodgers we are talking about , I'd give anything. But Brees is already of questionable health and doesn't have all that many years left.
drew brees might possibly take us to the superbowl, nobody can deny that, but he could also wind up riding the bench with the way our offensive line plays as of late. the saints have an elite OL and help keep drews jersey pretty clean for the most part. that being said, if there is a realistic chance to sign drew brees, i wouldnt be upset if the jets did it. anyone is expendable at that point because brees will take the team very far, regardless of how the d plays, and the d without revis would still be better than the saints god-awful defense. at the same time though, we dont ahve players like colston, sproles, henderson, graham, moore. im not taking anything away from drew brees as a qb, but having those guys definitely helps. more i think about it the less i like the idea of giving up revis for brees.
Brees was nasty before he got Sproles and Graham. He could make it work with any offense. Colston is also not that good for a number 1.
It would because it gives the Saints a third year QB with promise working with Sean Payton. (at least next year) Mediocre, yes but there are only a handful of QBs that where more than mediocre going into there 4th year in the NFL. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/E/ElwaJo00.htm http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/McNaDo00.htm http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/R/RoetBe00.htm http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MannEl00.htm http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BreeDr00.htm Should I keep going give Sanchez a break. Jets fans are amazing
not that good for a number 1? only time he hasnt had 1000 yards is a year he was injured. dude is a beast.
Put him on the Jets and he does not put up those numbers. Colston is not a great receiver. He is pretty he just happens to have one of if not the best QB in football throwing him the ball.
How many years did it take Brees to become the best player in football? Before or after he was benched for Flutie?
dude consistently beats double teams and wins a ton of jump balls. the guy can ball with anyone in the league. he would be a legit receiving threat on any team.
Sorry the point I was trying to make was all the shots at Sanchez. (Not by you) It takes a while to learn the Qb position and that Jet fans need to be patient with Sanchez. He is only going into year four.
It would cost Revis and a first and second. I'd be fine with that. Brees didn't need an amazing defense to win the SB.
revis has to be include because there is no way to afford the new deal he wants and brees'. saints also don't need a t.e. or r.b they may take maybin though.
Oh gotcha. Yea I wasnt taking shots at Sanchez more taking shots at Colston. Colston is good but hes not that great he just has Brees throwing the ball to him on an offense that is one of the best and one where they throw the ball a lot. You give Brees a true number 1 like Calvin Johnson or Miles Austin and that wr will put up ridiculous numbers.
More urban legend material about how "bad" the OL is. Sure it dropped off from the year before thanks mostly to Hunter and Mangold's injury, but it still ranked 23rd with first being worst in Qb hits. 23rd is just under the top quarter in the league. I do agree, however, that the Jets do not have quite the offensive firepower the Saints have on O. One other thought - Brees may want out of NO due to their suspensions and what not making at least this year a lost one for their chances to win it all.
Again, Revis cannot be traded because of the accelerated cap hit of his bonus money. People keep talking about trading Revis like it gives us some cap relief - wrong.
Revis will not be signing a new deal this year. Next year is next year. With Revis and Brees on the same team as an intact core of Mangold, Ferguson, Holmes, Cro and Harris, the Jets could have the best shot in a long long time to win an SB.
Trading Revis in 2012 doesn't work. Trading him after 2012 will give us significant cap relief moving forward. That's because there's no such thing as a franchise CB but that's what Revis will be looking to get paid as.
