You really think I could buy a friend? Would I be able to get them to sign a contract to stay for the whole game, no matter what?
Let me let you in on a few secrets. Your gifts will mostly consist of crap you will put in the closet and never look at again. (That whole "good China" crap is just retarded. Pay for your damn plate freeloaders!) Your current happy fiance will become your bitter wife. The last part, you can start forgetting about it now. If a married woman isn't trying to make a baby, she isn't trying to touch you. Moral of the story: Run while you still can!
If John Smith from Scottsdale, AZ and I are both getting the opportunity to scalp our tickets, I'm going to be just like John Smith. We aren't talking $50 above face value, we are talking 5-10x the face value. F that, if Johnny is going to make money, you can be sure I am too.
Ehh. Who's to say that. I'm still young, and in the grand scheme of thing, spending that money on WS tickets at this age is insignificant in a couple of years. Only thing I ask for is the Yankees to minimze the number of home playoff games that they have. Like, I'll be there if they play them, but I'd rather they don't play them if they can help it.
You're both breaking the law, but at least Johnny isn't trying to make a quick buck off his fellow fans that really want to attend the game.
I understand what you are saying man. To be honest with you, I wouldn't specifically buy tickets with the intent to sell them. If I was given tickets though, I would definitely sell them. I wouldn't be going to the game anyway, so what's the difference? Besides, that gives someone else the opportunity to go, who otherwise wouldn't have the chance. (And no, I am not charitable enough to sell them at face value.)
Just be sure to only sell them to Met fans when it happens. Otherwise your karma is screwed and your marriage is doomed.
How is some guy from AZ not trying to make a quick buck if he gets tickets? I don't get it. The fact is, these tickets are goign for high prices not because of scalpers looking for them, but because they'll get them! This like this are driven by demand. Fans arent going to pay for things they don't feel isn't worth it. Was it wrong for Corvette's this past year to sell USED for 15k over MSRP? Is that "screwing" other Corvette enthusiasts? Not in my opinion. The demand is there--take advantage of it.
So I guess you won't be complaining if gas goes to 5 dollars a gallon, because people will pay for it! Scalpers are bottom feeders, on the same level as the people that price gouge when they think they can get away with it. Just because you can wring a couple bucks out of someone doesn't mean you have to do it.
The price of gas is alot different than that of a luxery like going to a baseball game. Gas prices are affected by Goldman Sach's, reserves, world events etc. People have little effect on it, even if they boycotted companies. Tickets on the other hand, their price is based solely on what one person is WILLING to pay for them. You don't need tickets in the way most people need gasoline. Completely different.
Whether or not the person "needs" something is irrelevant. You're exploiting another person's needs/wants/desires to get some money that you didn't earn. If people are so willing to pay these prices then why don't the Mets just sell them for 1k a seat to start with?
I don't know why they don't. Maybe they should then, it could make them alot more money. Or it could backfire, and there may not be enough demand to meet the supply at that costs. I'm sure they went through alot of work in setting the price. Isn't there a whole segment of economy based on exploiting people's needs. Anything "luxery" is pretty much doing that. A Cadillac, Lexus or Mercedes sells for alot more than the sum of its parts. Why? Because there's a demand for these vehicles. These painting by Monet and Picasso that sell for millions work on the same principle. The canvas and paint isn't worth that much money, its just the person's desire to own that particular thing that makes it like that.
You're comparing legitimate businesses to some guy off the street trying to turn a quick profit. If people don't like the Cadillac prices they can buy another type of car. If you want to see a Met playoff game you either get the tickets when they go on sale or ripped off by a 3rd party.
