Think it was just average if you translate average=good then your standards are below mine in rating a player
& what happens when the "no" huddle is not used or it is 3-15 or 3-10? Also the cohesion issue is greatly weaken with Kendall departing fromn the OL sooner or later
folks...IMO the only chance the jets have to put up competitive offensive numbers is to run a pass first, run second style of football..... with the WR, TE and RB we have on the roster most of these passes will be of the 5-12yard variety to keep opposing defenses honest. short passes, RAC yards, and a healthy diet of trap and draw plays will rule. unfortunately, i do not see us being strong on the perimeter due to the guard/tackle situation on the line. this is something that bears watching against the 3-4 defenses which, IMO, puts us at a big disadavantge. But - scheme and execution are everything and thats why they play the games. jil
Actually...There were some good points made & some of the usual silly comments from some of the fool-hardy. The post is actually very true. Jones will find out that his new O-line isn't gonna block for him as good as they did in CHi-Town. It's true that Jones will have to try to dodge defenders in his own backfield. It's true that Tangini will try to put the best players on the field. Its' true that the Jets' might have some ample replacements on the roster.....as we speak. Jets' did sign rookies OL Moran & they talk about Wick. I actually watched W. Mich.'s bowl game & Moran seemed very solid. I was impressed by him. Its' also true that it would be nice if Jets' can sign or trade for an established O-lineeman. I believe there is a stud OL coming out in the supplemental draft. Gaither from Maryland. He's definitely worth a 2nd or 3rd rounder. He's like 6'9" 340lbs. Jets' have 2/5 of O-line in place. Thats Mangold & Brick. They need 2 guards to really step up & I don't really want Kendall back. They have to build that OL with younger, talented players & give them time to grow. Bottom line for any good OL....3rd & 1; 3rd & 2; 3rd & 3.....Who are you Jets' gonna run behind ? Let alone to which side !!! Who is that special player thats gonna make a way for the RB? Now...If there is an easy answer to that question, then usually a team has a decent OL. For the Jets', that answer is awaiting in traing camp, but its alot more settling knowing that answer even before training camp starts! Personally...I can't wait to see the Jets' 1st 2 pre-season games & see how the OL looks & how effective Pouha can be. Because there is still a gaping hole ....last I looked at NT. :breakdance:
Not sure why the FO didn't go for more line help. maybe they didn't see any worthy at our draft position. I believe building the line is the way to build a winner, as I agreed with last year's draft. (D'Brick and Mangold) Anyway, just for the hell of it , here are the top 5 rated guards in NEXT year's draft......(according to Lindy's) maybe we can get one of these guys....IMO we are still rebuilding here. We need to fix BOTH lines before we can truly compete with the PATS, Steelers, etc. In the meantime, GO JETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1. Jeff Byers USC 6-3 285 JR 2.Jeremy Perry Oregon State 6-2 313 JR 3.Jordan Grimes Purdue 6-4 335 SR 4 Adam Kraus Michigan 6-5 300 SR 5.Andrew Crummey Maryland 6-5 301 SR
it's the off season my man... and every post on here gets taken to the O-Line by the faction of posters who have nothing better to do than belittle the draft and say we are gonna suck and Thomas Jones is gonna hate life because we can't block a stiff wind... it's enough already, and weather it was directed at me or not is a moot point, because, it reality... it was since it had my post in it... besides the fact that this is a public message board... I can post how I feel about a thread... and this one, well it's much like that old where's the beef commercial (hense the sarcasm)... the undertone of my post to our O-oline, woe is me, we should have drafted O-line in the first second and third rounds of this past draft faction... Like I said... it's the off season... I don't post regularly here anymore, but I do read it... and the O-line seems to be the latest in a long yet undestinguished list of dead horses being beaten to death here... Ellis
I feel your pain and frustration, but when the first four reply posts are just complaining...and you happened to get quoted because you were the last in the long line of complainers...I get a little upset. The other posters in this thread were actually able to have a conversation about the line in spite of posts that contribute nothin' but bitchin'...from now on I will call them...noposts. hmy:
