the "vanilla" offense we have seen the last 2 weeks should not alarm anyone.....its preseason, it should be as basic as it gets. however they "have" to show some of the brad smith packages and the bizarre exotic plays to give future opposing defenses some tape for the regular season and beyond. its the execution, period. if the jets cannot produce positive yardage with the basic slant/screen/curl plays it boils down to execution.... talent + coaching = execution : ) i am almost convincd we have the coaching - its the talent part of the equation i am very shaky about. jil
Great post. It is true the Jets are 1-2 years away talent wise. IMO, that is a fact of life considering how much of a shambles we were in after 2005. This FO and staff are on their way. Look at the competition they are fostering at almost every position save the few it takes longer (OL for instance). I am not afraid to say talent wise we are at least 4-5 players away from being an elite team. Again my opinion, but add that many players onto the respective lines and the Jets are going to be very very good to elite. It may sound like alot, however 1 good to great draft and off-season and bingo this team is special.
I knew this was how it would be after a preseason loss. Take it easy, it is just a warmup, things will get better.
what is it with you guys asking for a new nose tackle everytime a RB rushes for 4 or more yds? have you even watched the game? bryan thomas missed the tackle at the line of scrimmage on petersons 50yd run. then there's dyson who looked even more pathetic (that spin move peterson put on him looked kinda funny though). what does robertson or pouha have to do with it? dyson makes the tackle and peterson gains like 2yds on that play. our run defense looked fine except for that 50yd run by peterson.
After the 1st regular season game, I can't think of 1 player that stands out to me.....This bothers me. :rofl2:
