A RT now to make this a top offensive line. I like the recently released OT from San Diego, Shane Olivea or UFA T/G Maurice Williams from Jacksonville. And we need a starter or at least depth at OLB in free agency AND the draft. There are plenty of guys out there including Pace. You can find about a 10-man list of OLBs and other potential free agents on the Jets' radar in my Jets Free Agency Breakdown thread.
i like those ideas. plus, drafting flacco allows them to trade chad after june 1st, and spred out the cap hit over 2 years.
We definitely have to re-work DeRob's contract. It's far too big of a cap hit. His contract is also a huge detriment to his getting traded, for anything of value. If we don't cut him (which would be a travesty), we have to rework his deal to keep the team from being financially strangled and largely prevented from a lot of moves (which we certainly have left without his $9 million plus 08 cap hit).
Pace sounds like he is going to Miami, and is just visiting the JETS tomorrow to see if they blow him out of the water with stupid money... Rotoworld: Free agent OLB Calvin Pace says he "loved" his Friday visit with the Dolphins, but still plans to meet with the Jets this weekend. "I'm feeling it," he said of Miami. "You know Parcells, he's going to win wherever he goes. We'll see man. I might be lining up on the other side of Jason Taylor. I just feel like I should still take that trip (to New York)." according to what i've heard, they tried to get a 1st, 2nd or 3rd for d-rob with no takers.i think we're keeping him, and trying to rework his contract. also, i heard schfter say he thinks the jets are gonna pull another biggie, in the next couple of days. don't ask me why, but i've got a funny feeling we get chad johnson. just a hunch.
Heres a question, considering how secretive the Jets are, How does Adam Shefter know exactly what the Jets have done so far in trying to trade DRob?
if we rake in a big time reciever like Chad Johnson or Randy moss in this offseason as evojoe suggests, we might just be in line for the best offseason in the history of the franchise... in the first weekend....
I think its safe to say were not gonna land a marquee wide receiver, Tannenbaum is trying to build an elite defense and above average offensive line- Thats it for this off-season. Thats certainly enough and will provide the Jets with a chance at dethroning the Pats.
