Demario Davis should not be back he's a jag who can't tackle or cover Cro should be cut Williams is better, cheaper, younger Cumberland is totally useless,an Undrafted FA can replace him Breno is average to below average keep him one more year but draft his replacement Brick is slipping but he is still serviceable. See if he would take a paycut
Buahahahahahahaha!!!!!! You want to cut Cromatie our second best CB and keep Millner who can' stay on the field. What happens when Millner and Williams both get hurt AGAIN?
$8 million base salary next year for Cromartie. not sure why you are laughing as your proposal seems more absurd to me. the last 2 weeks Cromartie arguably has played like the 2nd best corner on this team but he didn't play like that ALL year. No matter what though, even on his best day here in 2015, he hasn't played like an $8 million player. of course I roll the dice with Marcus Williams & Dee Milliner. You still have Darrelle Revis and Buster Skrine, expensive CBs. I'm not sure if Marcus Williams and/or Dee Milliner represent any drop off from Cromartie or not but a simple cost/benefit analysis would tell you that anything they produce in their spot will be much better for the team than even slightly better production from an added $8 million player. I'd bring back a D'Brickashaw Ferguson with a $14 million cap hit in 2016 over an Antonio Cromartie with an $8 million cap hit in 2016. I say this because that's a decision that will likely have to be made as I doubt its possible to keep both guys in their current salaries for next year. At least with Ferguson there isn't anyone remotely close on the roster to being able to replace his production, and his play is closer to that price tag than Cromartie is to $8 million
Jets cut him. the contract is no longer valid. They bring him back under a new contract. That's the scenario I could see happening.
Or we cut him, someone else pays him more money and we spend $16 mil on Revis Island while the rest of our secondary gets torched on a regular basis.
Totally agree with your list but can we add Dexter McDougle and Jeff Cumberland? Assuming no big cap hit, lose both of them. Neither play much and neither is a star on special teams. If anyone on your roster doesn't play much, save special teams, and isn't very good on special teams, why not replace them with cheaper, better special teams talent?
There's always a risk some other team will overpay in a situation like that. I don't think the answer is to overpay yourself in order to eliminate that risk. If the Jets cut Cro, but offer to negotiate a new deal, at a fair price, I think that is the best approach to take. Sure it does not mean he will stay. But the second year price on the current K is too big.
The offseason is VERY long fellas. Enjoy the final 3 weeks. Threads like this can be discussed non-stop after the season. It will be all we have.
To all those talking about getting rid of Mo Wilkerson, thank god you chose careers other than Jets GM. You'd have made Idzik look good.
Nice thread to pass the time before this big playoff run Actually, good timing in a way because so many stars fail to show up for the most meaningful games or have playoff meltdowns eg Dalton So IMO whether you play offense or defense how well you do these next 3 to 6 weeks will help me make up my mind who I would like to see back It's kind of like you perform well all season (between the goalposts) but can't punch it in the red zone (playoff time) Here are my EXCEPTIONs for Obvious reasons: Fitz, Mo Willk and or Richardson Marshall Decker Mangold Ivory Powell Pryor Harris Coples LWilliams maybe couple more....but otherwise SHOW ME SOMETHING NOW
Dude we can't talk about this now. Concentrating on the offseason is going to cost us games. It's why we can't have nice things. _
Agreed. If he's honest, he should understand and admit that he sucked balls for most of the year, and should be willing to take a pay cut, especially since he wanted to come back here so badly. He also needs to understand that if he does come back he needs to play the entire season the way he has the last couple of weeks; otherwise, it's a no go.
A few bad plays is not most of the season. If the coaching staff knew he was hurt and played him anyway they weren't expecting 100% performance to begin with. Guys with his size and speed are not easy to find at CB. Do you really want Revis trying to cover Gronk or Megatron?
I kinda think McDougle is more important for us than Milliner. I don't even think it's fair to judge them by the round they were drafted in at this point.. milliner doesn't play and he's been cleared to go since last month. When Cro goes and Revis eventually I'd like to have McDougle around but that's maybe just me
Whomever has been playing or coaching special teams for us should probably shown the door.... just a thought.
