Since Clowney has now caught a pass and TD in a regular season game, Woodhead is now the new "Pre-season All-Star". I suppose since the Jets have an outspoken coach, players on Twitter, a rivalry with a team that defeated us 2 weeks ago, numerous injuries, trades, run-ins with the law, there isn't really anything interesting for the media to write about.
The media gets their cue from the fans. I wouldn't doubt they got the ideas for half of their articles from football forums, to see what gets read and what gets ignored.
It hasn't "been like this all year." They just started asking about him since he was signed to the active roster. Now that Leon went down Woodhead is the obvious replacement for some of the things he did.
i like him cuz he's a 5'8'' white dude just like myself, unfortunately for me tho i can't run, or catch, or lift weights, or well, u get the idea lol. whenever i see him with the ball i refer to him as "little white man" , i refer to Jim Leonhard the same way, and when either of them have the ball and are running i enjoy yelling "go little white man go!"
white people get way too happy when a white guy does well. personally i couldnt care less about the guy until he does something that isnt in the last 2 minutes of a blowout against the raiders. its almost obnoxious how many people have such a hard on for this guy. its a shame because i am beginning to dislike him simply because of having to hear all of the jackasses who want to be him. i wonder how many woodhead jerseys will be in the crowd this weekend.

It's because he's a little white dude who plays a position where there are no little white dudes, he's a Jet and an underdog who works his ass off and we want to see him do well. It's not that hard to understand why he's a fan favorite. And it isn't just 'because he's white'. I'd just as soon root for a black kicker or an Asian dude trying to make the team. they are players who actually perform. they seem to get much less praise than woodhead for doing nothing. there are far fewer people pulling for them to do well. people like them because they perform.... leon caught alot of flack around here for his choice of agent, remember all the love towards leon in those threads?

Are you saying Wayne Chrebet didn't perform? And I could be mistaken but I don't think site was around back when the Jets signed him. No one's praising Woodhead, we're just happy he's getting a shot. It's not like he's just another bum.. he did graduate the top rusher in NCAA history, had ridiculous pro day numbers, and a great preseason. fwiw..
