As much as I hate him, he's got the skills and Chad would certainly get him atleast 800 yards per year if they both stayed healthy.

The reason that Manning doens't pass the ball to Shockey is because Shockey doesn't run his routes! If he's supposed to run a 5 yard curl he'll do it and then if he doesn't get the ball immediately he just sprints in circles up the field to shake the defender and go for the touchdown. Eli has enough to worry about with the Giants' terrible offensive line without trying to find Shockey.

I'd rather keep Baker than give up a first or second rounder for Shockey, no question about it.

I like Shockey. I dont know if he would work for us, but I would be ok with trying to find out. My take on Shockey is a little different than most. I think he is just a really passionate player. He gets excited when he makes plays and pissed when he doesnt. Pros and Cons to that mentality, but if you throw his way three times in the first half every game, I bet he would be an animal. He cares, and I rank that pretty high on my list of traits I like in a player. Is he over the top sometimes, sure, but if he is producing and the team is winning, he is a much better soldier.

I think he was right last week, if they would have tried to compete there for a the 3rd qtr, with that O, I think they could come back. They have big playmakers, and I think Eli is slightly above average overall as a QB, but they can put points on the board in bunches. Coughlin gave up, and it pissed Shockey off, I dont blame him.

I would not give up a first or second round pick for him, but if he was a FA, and was cheap due to teams being scared away, I would do it.

While it's true that fans will "excuse" idiotic behavior or a piss poor attitude from a player when the team is winning I still find it hard to believe that anyone would say "hey, I'd like to have that guy on my team!" He's a classless scumbag.

Why? What's he done recently that makes him a classless scumbag? The Coughlin comments?

I honestly think there's nothing wrong with it. If something annoys you, why not speak up?

His whole career has been littered with classless moments. I don't have to list them. As a Giants fan you know what they are. Most people don't change. I doubt he will be one who changes. He'll always be an asshole. But he's your asshole and you want to protect him on a Jets message board, so be it.

He is a definite pain in the ass, I won't deny that.

You could also say he's dumb as a rock. Even with that Miami education.

However, he is also extremely talented. While he does seem to drop some passes, he's also made some incredible catches, and while sometimes his head seems out of the game, he always goes hard after the ball.

The biggest problem with him so far has been the injuries. That's what's kept him from putting up multiple elite seasons, not his mouth. He gets dinged up too much, and he'll try to play through it and F things up even more.

If I ran the Giants and could go back to the 2002 NFL Draft, I would still take him with that 14th pick. If he could stay healthy, none of this would be such a problem because he'd have backed everything up on the field.
Do I like it when he shows up his QB with the stupid "I was open" dance or when he runs his mouth to reporters? Of course not.

But I love watching that SOB play football.

Ehh I'm not sure. If he came to the Jets, he better realize that Mangini is no joke. I'm sure Eric would whip around Shockey till he gets his mind out of the gutter and focoused on the TEAM and not just himself.

Yeah, his rookie year he was an ass.

But besides a few comments this year...what's he done lately that illustrates the point more?

The guy is trash, just looking at him tells you that. That his douchebaggery shines through so clearly in a league filled with douchebags says it all. He only confirms it whenever you hear him open his mouth.

Why do you talk as if you were on an instant messaging program when you are on this forum?

It's not hard to type out words fully. It's just lazyness.

...but go on...give me the story about how internet isn't your life and everything...

I think that its just your immaturity showing. How old are you really? I've got you pegged for 14-15 years old.
