To start off yes you are right kris jenkins has been one of the greater editions for the jets in all time jets history. Now only thing missing for dt is another dt who can give kris a blow and rotate in and out with him without any scarifice. Next thing is yes he lost weight and has energy now but its a big difference between energy and stamina he might be lacking stamina and endurance is all as the season goes on u build it more and more. As for the back pain for me it comes and goes specially with weather or your sleeping habits determine your back pain. You gotta give him credit even if he wasn't ready to come back yet he shows heart and doesn't want to quit and ill take a guy like that anyday
I really don't think the injury bothered him this past week. The reason we didn't see him in the second half was that the Cardinals never ran the ball. Jenkins should not be on the field for plays that are obvious passing downs. He should be on the field on first and second downs. The most important role for Jenkins is stopping the other teams running game.
A 34 NT is supposed to command doubleteams and hold his ground against the run. That?s the two biggest things those guys are supposed to do. Pouha get?s knocked off the line and pushed into the LBs face on a regular basis and this often even happens when he?s blocked only by the Center, so he also doesn?t command doubleteams. His game so far sucks, period.
Besides stuffing the run, Jenkins collapses the pocket as well as anyone in the league. It won't show anywhere in the stats, but Jenkins was responsible for an interception earlier in the game. When a NT pushes a pocket, the QB must step back. Often into edge rushing LB's. That won't show in the stats either, but Jenkins is just as responsible as the pass rusher
Yup - watch that 3rd quarter again, you'll see outside rushers coming through and Warner stepping up with no worries to complete the pass.
It's such a huge difference watching our pass rush with him in the lineup. QB's have always been able to simply step up in the pocket when we would pressure the outside. Jenkins does not allow the middle of the pocket to form and that's a huge reason why we are ranked 4th in sacks so far this year.
He said Athlete. Lets see him try to leg out an infiel single and then not have to ask for oxygen afterwards.
Even though the game was played on field turf, I suspect soiling was the cause of the Jenkins departure.
I love when you see three guys trying to block him. I also love when he busts the line up like he did on that blocked field goal. They looked like dominoes falling. He is a buffalo.
Hell yea. I love watching him drive centers back as soon as they snap the ball. Any coach that thinks they're going to block this guy with one man is going to waste some plays at the beginning of the game.
One more thing. I think we should take Jenkins out of the Block-FG team at least on PATs. I know he had a block against Arizona, but he?s that kind of guy that gives 100% whenever he?s on the field, nomatter what play, so every PAT he?s in is the same as a defensive snap so that?s about 5-8 snaps a game less he can give us on Defense, which is about an entire drive. If they?re trying to kick a gamewinner, you sure get the best 11 guys in but if it?s just another PAT or FG, put someone else in and save Jenkins for D.
Kris Jenkins weighs 365 pounds. How much endurance should he have? I <3 this dude...I had no idea he'd look like he's looked. Sure, I was happy to hear that he was highly intelligent (the interviews he did) and willing to work, but I was really worried about having an overweight DT whos play had fallen off due to injury over multiple seasons. We should try to find someone who can take over for him soon...theres more decent NT prospects than usual coming out in the next few drafts. Terrence Cody really reminds me of Jenkins.
I agree he helps the pass rush but his value is against the run. if you can take away another teams ability to run the ball between the tackles that just kills their offense.
The weather has been pretty warm for the first 4 games. Really warm in miami and for the Pats game. That could be having an impact
Not if we can't get to the passer when they go through the air. See the Chargers game after he came out.
He had much less time and a smaller pocket when Jinx was in. He only played the first 2 defensive series of that game.
One of the most impressive plays I've seen in a while came when Smith picked off Warner. If you didn't get to see it, try to check it out. Warner's throw was a direct result of Jenkins instantly driving the Center back off the snap. I don't know what happened, but somehow, Jenkins was only blocked by the Center; look what happened. So, I have a question: Let's say we're picking at like #23 and there's a good NT prospect there, and the value is right. Would you take him and therefore have two starting caliber NT's on the roster who share reps? Me, I'd do it because it's obviously the main ingredient to this Defense.
