I hated to lose Ik too. I think he could have become a dominant pass rusher and played a big part in our defense's success this season and in future seasons. The whole incident has left me sick to my stomach. I had wanted the Jets to draft Geno, and they did, then he was a steaming pile of shit for 2 seasons. Just when it looked like the light was going on and he was going to play at a consistently high level, and give us some hope, he has to act like a smug entitled jerk, get himself punched, and in the process showing that few players on the team seem to like and support him, and ending the promising Jets career of a young pass rushing OLB. I'm so tired of this kind of crap with the Jets. I was ready to walk away from it all before Bowles and Mac were hired. If Rex and Idzik hadn't been fired, I would have already been gone. I assumed that there would be some mess to clean up, but nothing like this. I'm going to give them a year, two tops to clean the mess up that Rex left. If it continues beyond then, I probably will walk away from following the NFL and the Jets for good, because I'll know that this franchise is cursed. Crap will then have happened through both of their long-term owners and almost every GM and HC they have. When it's one or two HCs or GMs, you blame them. When it's every one of them or almost every one of them, then you have to look at the franchise itself. Following sports is supposed to be fun and enjoyable, not a constant downer, and source of frustration and stress.
What I don't understand regarding this whole situation, is why wouldn't Geno just pay him back? That was the correct thing to do, and with his salary, $600 is practically chump change. He's to blame as much as IK. I, too, thought IK was going to be a great situational pass rusher at the worst, especially given our talent at DL. Ugh, what are you going to do?
Oh. When he said stats, I thought there some metrics or something by which posts were rated of which I was unaware. The number of posts means nothing to me. It just shows who is more opinionated and has more time, or is more obsessed with the Jets. LOL
So..to follow your logic... The former GM trashed a 5th overall pick, with 4 playoff wins, against two losses in which cumulatively he posted a 90+ Rating, tossing twice as many TD's as picks.. for a guy from a shit offense, where he relied on two up and coming star NFL players, to post stats, in an offense that does not translate well to the NFL. and banked the organizations future on said player when (THIS poster pointed out that Sanchez would play the next season for 4 mil a priori. Exactly what he signed with the Iggles for. I knew it...Idzik apparently thought it better to bank on Geno. and no backup) And you think...that keeping a guy that had the same problem once before, had to be pepper sprayed, and then tasered, got suspended from his college team, was a 6th round pick, and yet, learned nothing from it, and showed no appreciation for the half million dollars (takes you 12 years to earn) the owner was paying him... should be kept? really? P.S. Rex doesn't say who plays. The Commissioner does. And when Woody, points out the footsie with Tommy...
Maybe he intended to, but hadn't yet. Based on what I've read so far, imo he didn't owe Ik a dime. I may think differently when all the facts come out, however. All we have now is a lot one-sided information and speculation. If he offered to pay him back, it was because he either was trying to be nice and felt guilty about not making it, or he was just stalling Ik and didn't want to get in a hassle with Ik by telling him that he wasn't going to reimburse him.
Yep. But with Geno, it's an ethnic thing. Geno gets a pass just because. He's always been a scumbag, I put it in my sig, and his teammates are backing it up. Diva Bitch. Sanchez sponsored Jets west on his own dime. Probably 600 on lunches. Let alone lodging travel and facilities. Idzik shoud DIAFF.
What a bunch of hipocrates bashing rex for something you would applaud macc for if it was Mayo who got canned for dropping brady. Rex one uped us during a tragic situation. Deal with it. Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
Taking a roster spot for a guy about to be suspended, indefinitely? We'd all be bitching about the 5th tight end that got released.
P.S. and this is for everyone, not a response to your post. If IK is the next Cam Wake. Some Jets OL...will roll up on that fuckers knee
I try to not point that out as often as it needs to be said, but there are color blind glasses where Geno is concerned. It's clear if you read my posts, I think he sucks, and we downgraded horribly for the wrong reasons..but as much as his behavior, is AS WAS ADVERTISED. Ike needs to be out of the NFL permanently. Before it's a JJ Watt/Peyton Manning type incident. Look at the NFL right now. Why is Buck Frady in Federal court? because his lawyers know, that the NFL does not want the opening night story line, to be the Rapist/Cheater. The NFL Creamed it's jeans getting to work in the Rapelisberger/Cheatriots matchup for TNF. Oops. (And Goodell does not have the balls to issue the statement, that "It's sad that two of the NFL's most successful franchises are opening the season, with ...serious questions about the honesty and reliability of their two most important players...this is the worst aspect of my job") SO If Ike gets away with it, or Brady gets away with less than 4,(that should have been a Pete Rose thing anyway) it will be clear, that Goodell has less than no balls. How does Ike play a down, while Smith sits home?
Please refrain from generalizing. I am not a hypocrite. No, I wouldn't applaud Mac for signing Mayo or any other player that had punched out his team's starting QB. I would be dead set against it and would make no bones about it. I would be very unhappy with Mac for doing that. In the threads regarding this incident, I made it very clear that I agreed that Idzik should have been cut. When the Richardson incident happened, I said and still think that the Jets should punish him and not just wait for the NFL to do so. I have been very clear and consistent over the last year and a half that I've been posting here that I want only players with high character and class. That's the reason I wound up despising Rex. He has no class, very low character, and is an effing dumb ass imo. I despise low lifes, cretins, thugs and punks. I'd rather the Jets never win another SB rather than selling their souls and bringing in a bunch of those types in an effort to win. Helping a young kid get his life together who makes a mistake is one thing. Enabling them to continue those attitudes and behaviors while paying them millions of dollars a year and allowing them to be poor role models for young kids is quite another.
