Rex has said things like this before to players pre-draft. I remember one year that two guys said that he told them he would select them if they were available in round 1. But he knows Watkins. Rex's son is a Wr at Clemson. Also Idzik has hinted that with a plethora of draft picks he might trade up. So I don't think it's impossible if they can get a decent trade up. It might take two no. 1s (this year and next year) and a 2nd rounder. The draft value of the third overall pick is 2200. And the draft value of the 18th overall is 900. Which means probably to get up to the 1300 difference they would need next year's no. 1 plus a no. 2 (either 2014 or 2015's). Don't be too shocked if this happens but probably not.

Beckham isn't Julio Jones GTFO with this crap. If the Jets do it - then everything about the Jets and their drafting strategy has NEVER changed since the last regime. We will truly be fucked. I know I'm overreacting but when Idzik realizes that was a bad idea and that kid never shows up against the Pats, I would want a complete overhaul of the scouting staff because they are overconfident and cocky. You would think they would have learned from the Steven Hill fiasco.

Stay at 18 and take the BPA.

I've watched LSU games for 3 years, I can honestly say Beckham was never the best player on the field.

I doubt Rex said anything. Just because someone says or reports something on the internet or in the paper means nothing these days. It could very well be rumors spread by either the Jets themselves or other teams. You know, stir the pot some. For all we know, it could be Topps or Upper Deck stirring the shit just to sell trading cards for fucks sake. It`s all about $$$$$$$ and ANYONE/ANY BUSINESS who could potentially make a few will do whatever the hell they can to make those $$$$`s. For all we know, it could`ve been some douchebag from New England or Miami talking bullshit and the media, being the idiot assholes they are, just ran with it. LOL

Don`t belive anything. Just let it ride and watch the Jets continue to screw up draft picks. They ain`t all that great at it. Maybe, and I mean MAYBE, Idziot might know a little bit when it comes to drafting. We`ve had draft guru`s before and the Jets never get anywhere with it. 95% of draft picks emount to NOTHING in the NFL anyway. Just pray the Jets step in a huge pile of shit like the Pats did(with the help of Mo Lewis).

it's all smoke. wouldn't worry too much about it.
IF the Jets really like OBJ, maybe at most they trade up a pick or 2. no way at all they go top 10 for OBJ.

as far as Watkins, i think he'd have to clear the first 5 or 7 picks before he gets on the Jets potential trade radar. and i don't see him lasting that long..
my guess is we stay pat at 18, or trade back a few picks if there is a willing partner..

I think Idzik will take the BA F-ing Player at 18 and see if the safety or one of Cbs fall there or take Beckman but not trade up for him (which is insane). Only trade up for Watkins (which is almost impossible). I don't see Marquis Lee's name being mentioned at all lately. The Jets could trade down and still get him that is if they like him. I would take the Iowa TE in the 3rd round because he might be the best overall TE which means he can block.

Um Im talking about production. Green and Julio are studs. Watkins will be a stud. Unless he goes to Jacksonville.

I don't think the jets are going wr. If they were I doubt all these sources would know who the jets were after. Idzik is conservative as hell, no way he isn't keeping jets intentions on lockdown.

Rex has run his mouth before though. Coples stated Rex promised to draft him. I doubt the new gm will tolerate that shit. Leaks are a possibility but I really doubt it. Therefore, what is left is an amateurish attempt at smokescreen to possibly try to gauge interest in particular position by team.
Or it's just a shitty journalist being fed horse shit by pats.

It's almost time. By now every Jet fan should have a good read on Idzik. Rex will not be making the call anyway so however he is quoted or misquoted it makes no difference. If the player or players Idzik wants are there at 18 he will call the name. If they are not look for him to trade down and go for volume. A flip with Cleveland on the first and second rounds and 3rd for a 4th would likely fly. Those who have been paying attention to Idzik's way of doing things and have no agenda should be able rest easy. He is very predictable.

Rex acts like that around players, talking them up and joking with them. Clearly, the Jets like him. Everyone likes him. He's a great prospect. I don't think he's worth trading up to the top 5 to get.

If Evans somehow slipped around 10, I'd consider it, but I certainly would not move up for Beckham (and I like Beckham a lot).

I want to know how ODB's draft status has changed from mid-1st all winter long to borderline top 10 in like the last 24 hours.

Lots of teams want receivers, maybe as many as 8 will take one in the 1st they say.

Sure but ODB for the most part was in that second tier of wideouts with Cooks and Lee. But recently he is being bumped into Watkins/Evans range.

3 wideouts havent been taking with the first 10 picks since 2005. I gotta look at a team like Buffalo. Assuming order doesnt change in the top 10 (which Im sure it will) Buffalo is the only WR needy team at that point up until the Jets pick (Giants and Steelers probably shouldn't be going WR that early). And most likely both Watkins and Evans will both be gone by pick 7. So if your Buffalo do you select the 3rd best WR with the 8th overall pick? I wouldn't.

With these recent reports I would guess someone will have to trade up to get ODB but trading into the top 10 for him is insane.

It is, if they trade into the top 10 I am guessing it would be for Evans or Ebron who may both be there at 10.
