The locker room will love whoever gives them the best chance to win. And if they sign a vet who is better than both, he's the guy they will love.
Why not? They're both trying to hold the same job, aren't they? There's forty posts here that mention every quarterback on the Jets and some who aren't. Is there some reason you don't want White and Wilson compared in their performance or salary?
Wilson was paid before he ever threw a pass in the NFL as per the rookie wage scale. What's done is done. Are you suggesting they offer White a salary based off of Wilson's contract? Yikes.
No. I'm not suggesting that at all. I also have not suggested a dollar amount for either, as others here have; are you mixed up regarding who posted what?
Sign him as a backup to Jimmy G. Draft a developmental day 2 guy. Jimmy G Mike White (who will Inevitably play) Developmental pick
Unfortunately the developmental pick will most likely play when White gets hurt. Not an ideal scenario.
To me it's pretty obvious. Sit Zack behind whoever (White?) for all of 2023. Play Zack for all of 2024. Either we have our FQB, or we draft Arch Manning in 2025. Game. Set. Match.
Let Mike White test the market. If there's a team out there willing to pay him big dollars? Let him go and get rich. He gave everything he had to this franchise including his health. If Saleh is half the player's guy he claims to be, he'll won't get in the way. White says he wants to return to the Jets, but he has to realize his odds of being the starter is near zero due to durability issues among other things. If he's willing to sit behind a Vet QB, that's a different story.
So Arch is forced back to school another year. Then Saleh earns his contract by tanking 2 yrs in a row.
It looks like they set him up to fail last week, as obviously he was nowhere near being healthy. I wouldn't be surprised if they did it on purpose to make life easier for their #2 draft failure. The entire organization is a circus sh*t show. Woodpecker should sell the team but of course he won't.
Saleh can't get on the way, Mike us UFA. But with that said, why not try to extend him before he hits free agency, kind of what we did with Berrios? If offer is good enough, he wants to stay here, he knows the system - it would be a smart thing to do for JD. If he offers us a bit of discount, while still setting himself up with 10+ mil guaranteed, I see nothing wrong with that. He is not going to be a guaranteed starter where ever he goes. And if we do end up with Jimmy G, chances to start here are quite high at some point in the season.
Sign him to a front loaded 3 year deal, which will buy the Jets time to draft the longterm solution, but with the promise of a true open competition next summer. No more weighted competition towards ZW due to draft position. I think MW can play the game at a high enough level with the weapons the Jets have on offense, coupled with 1st and/or 2nd round OL picks and the return of AVT and maybe Becton. I want no part of Garrapolo, Carr or Baker...
