It's almost impossible to give up on him unless you have someone handed to you on a silver platter that you KNOW is a better QB HANDS DOWN. IE healthy Peyton, Brees, etc. Need to improve the O-line, give him better weapons and take more shots down the field on play action.
A healthy Peyton with a bad offensive line wouldn't come to the Jets A neck fusion Peyton with a bad offensive line shouldn't even be a discussion.
No, its just that there are tons of fans too stoopid to realize that he might need a 4th or 5th year to become great. So dumping him now might be a huge mistake all things considered.
I never knew that recovering from neck surgery means you can't read defenses anymore. Kniwing this, I think it would be bad for Peyton if he went to the line and couldn't recognize there is 6 defenders @ the line while he has an empty back field!!!! Being a dummy that can take a hit clearly gives Mark an advantage over most QB's when it comes to taking hits... specially Peyton.:lol:
It wouldn't matter whether or not he can read the defense if he goes down in the first couple of weeks due to the line not being able to protect him. Maybe he could then coach Sanchez through the headset from his hospital bed.
It's really pretty easy to give up on him if you think he is not your QB of the future..you get somebody new and save 9 million bucks this year and 6 million more in 2013. Do you really think that means nothing?
Sure, that helps this year. But what about the subsequent years? And who exactly are you going to replace him with? Not paying attention to the cap and pretending that the world will end before the time comes to pay the piper is why the JEts are lacking in depth. Let's just ride it out with the guy for another year or two and see what happens.
I just keep thinking of how Drew Brees and Eli Manning were treated after their 3rd seasons when I try and evaluate Mark Sanchez. I think he's going to get better and it'd be a huge mistake to let him go somewhere else and take it to the next level.
an older,slower qb would have been minced meat behind this line. there is NO answer to Qb unless the line is fixed. which makes it not so much marks fault
the Jets have an excellent starting quarterback in Mark Sanchez LT suggested a competition?? I suggest he figure out how to gain more than 1 1/2 yards a carry on first or second down..... maybe Mr Third and Seven should just STFU
Maybe the O line should block for LT? Competition is not a bad thing for Sanchez. Brunnell has been more of a mentor and Sanchez has known he won't lose the job. Subconsciously that may have affected him. I say open to competition is fine and unless the backup is lights out better than Sanchez, you start Sanchez.
