According to today's NY Post (sorry don't have a link), they're interviewing Cleveland's DC. Forgot his name, but he's African American. Cleveland, who had the 26th-ranked defense this year. That's whose DC we're interviewing. I think the Rooney Rule becomes just ridiculous when you end up interviewing people who you have absolutely no intention of hiring. At least I hope the Jets have no intention of hiring this guy.
would interviewing someone who is mentally handicapped satisfy the requirement. if so, we could just interview Sutton and save the travel expense of flying a token coordinator in.
That rule is rediculous, either you can coach or you can't we just elected a mixed race man for the president of the united states for christ sakes would you want to be the person being interviewed knowing the only reason being the rooney rule? I wouldn't, its a slap in the face if you ask me
that's the problem. black coaches who obviously could coach weren't getting interviews, so it had nothing to do with ability in a lot of cases. besides, how do you know they aren't qualified if you don't interview them? it's a good rule. it may be implemented poorly, but it's a good rule. the NCAA needs it, too.
Its a stupid rule and is an insult to minority coaches. But a rule is a rule so lets interview T.O. he's a homosexual and a black guy. We could get extra points from the Commish. :breakdance:
Can we interview Eddie Robinson? Or is he dead. Would have to conduct the interview via seance then. Not impossible. Maybe we can find a Native American football coach to interview. God knows whoever that is should have no problem getting his guys to play hard and play angry.
Didn't the Lions get fined because no minority candidates wanted to waste their time since it was pretty clear who the Lions were going to hire anyway? The Rooney Rule is dumb.
I think that if the United States proved that it could hire and minority to be president, I don't think it's any longer an issue for a minority to be a football head coach.
I heard Leslie Frazier Vikings defensive coordinator, In 1999 Frazier joined first time Head Coach Andy Reid as Defensive Backs coach for the Philadelphia Eagles. He was then defensive coordinator of the Cincinnati Bengals from 2003-2004 where he helped turn the unit into a group that increased takeaways from 24 in 2003 to 36 in 2004 and declined in the two years following his dismissal. In 2005, Frazier was hired by Tony Dungy as a defensive assistant for the Indianapolis Colts as well as Defensive Backs Coach. He got the Minny job after Tomlin left for PItt.. He bounces around alot, his first year is always his best and the secondary is best position to coach
Are you kidding me?,,,ever think that someone on here just might be Native American? thats insulting man... joke or not
I believe the Rooney rule served it's purpose at the time and needs to be discarded. There is plenty of coaching talent out there, no matter what color your skin is.
