You're probably right. I like the whole Rudy Ruettiger story behind the guy, but he looks like a punter trying to run the ball.

I'm hoping to see the same defensive pressure, if not more, from the last game.

I'd like to see Gholston do a little more. He has the physical tools he just needs to learn some aggression in particular and how to play linebacker overall. I'm really questioning his football IQ but I think his drive is a lot better than most people give him credit for.

I want to see Sanchez hold his own against a top tier defense and not commit stupid turnovers.

Shonn Greene is going to be interesting to watch, I hope he gets some reps with the first team. It would be interesting to see how well he and Leon do with Mangold back at center.

As for the OLine, maybe putting Turner in as a guard to replace Faneca will have some benefits. He performed admirably as a center last week and could be a factor in the running game should someone go down during the season.

Did Woodhead get any carries against the Rams? I remember seeing him in on pass protection for a couple of plays and he was pretty good. Hopefully he gets some reps carrying the ball.

Yeah, I think Woodhead got 6 carries with the 2's and 3's. He only gained 5 yards total, but I'm not going to bash him on his stats. What really got me down on this kid is that I didn't see the quickness that a back his size needs to really succeed. People hoping that he could take over as the COP back after possibly trading Leon Washington would be sorely disappointed.

Gholston has to lose the patty-cakes act at the line and find the guy with the ball.

He got a handful of carries I believe. The kid is not fast at all. He looks slower than Greene. If he's gonna play in this league at that frame, he needs to at least be quick and elusive or one or the other like Sproles. He doesn't have any of that. He also fielded a couple of Kickoff returns that really didn't amount to much.

I'm looking forward to seeing exactly what Rex Ryan is looking for. If Sanchez is going to be a starter, then lets see what he has against one of the top defenses in the league. How will he handle things against Ray Lewis and the bunch. If he gets hit early, will he panic. What is his moxie really worth?

    No Particular Order

    Sanchez
    TJ/LW/SG
Mangold playing the point, solid as usual and the rest of the patched OL
Return game looked sloppy last week.
    Different looks on the blitz

    and pretty much everything else.

I'm looking forward to seeing the continued emergence of Ihedigbo as that guy in our secondary who hits like a frieght train.

Posted this in the wrong thread but:

My boy Kevin Brock is going to shine tonight. I'm real confident with Bullock's release that Brock can emerge as a #2 for us. He's a real athletic guy he came into Rutgers as a Wide Receiver and got lost in the shuffle in an offense that never really utilizes the TE as much as they should at Rutgers.

I think we have 4 TE's now with Keller, Brown, Simmons, and Brock. I'm confident Brock can seize the opportunity and make it over Simmons.

I don't consider James Dearth anything but a LS.

    1. Continued improvement from Franchez.
    2. Can David Clowney perform in a game other than Week 1 in the Preseason?
    3. How does our Defense look compared to the Ravens'? (Without Jenkins or Revis though, we can't get too much of a fair look at that.
    4. Shonn Greene.

Agree with this post 100%. It sucks, I think we were all rooting for the kid, but he did not look good last week.

Sorry, I'd rather watch the 4th quarter of Browns/Lions preseason than any baseball game any day of the week. So thankful football is finally here.

That's usually how I feel by the 4th preseason game, but from what I saw against the Rams, I'm enjoying tracking the progress of the 1st teamers because we are not running some vanilla base schemes like Mangini got me used to in preseason. Rex has actually made preseason worth a shit to me again.

Look, I'll take whatever football I can get, but I'd much rather it were regular season. Preseason is like a quick fix. I want the good stuff.
