I want Ivory back if the price is right. I really want the Jets to look into getting a speed back who can catch the ball out of the backfield. That could be a serious weapon in Gaileys offense.
I highly doubt Ivory and Powell go anywhere. Powell has proven his worth these last couple games, and Ivory is having the best year of his career. Gailey LOVES both of those guys, as he's said in the past. The offense is flowing very nice right now. I can't see Mac disrupting that.
When you get a chance, look at some videos of Josh Ferguson out of Illinois, he is slated to be a 3rd round pick. I'm targeting him because I believe the big name RBs will be gone by then, but he looks like he can be a great secondary RB that provides what you are looking for.
Yeah that's a type of guy, and round I'd be looking at. They don't need to invest a first round pick in a RB. But they've been lacking a real speed threat since Leon Washington. It's that type of player I think this team would really benefit from having.
I think taking a running back in the first round is usually a bad idea. Their careers tend to be very short, unless you get lucky and draft a HoF caliber back. If Ivory is slated to get a huge payday, I think we'd be better off putting that money towards guys like Snacks. As much as I like Ivory, I don't feel like he can keep playing for years and years and I'd rather the team invest in guys who are more likely to be here long-term. My guess is that Powell will be back, but we may end up moving on from Ivory. With the huge spending we did in the offseason, we won't be able to afford to bring all of our good players back unfortunately.
Yeah. Ivory will definately want a pay raise. With the cap situation were in. The Jets are gunna make some tough moves.
It works well for Ray Lewis. If you can bring God and heart into every discussion you have, you can be an NFL analyst.
I'm not entirely sure about about Elliott but I tend to agree with you on Henry. He reminds me of a big bruising plodder ala Trent Richardson. Not quick enough feet into the hole or good enough vision after the hole. Alabama runningbacks run through highway sized lanes. We're always looking for a premiere position in the wrong year it seems. 2017 is the year to look for a runningback with Fournette, Chubb's (albeit a blown out knee) and Dalvin Cook despite projections. When signing a big time runningback, you want to sign them to a max of 2 years assuming they're about 26ish years old. History tells us unless your an Adrian Peterson freak of an athlete (who is really the only one of his kind that you don't doubt will be better into his 30s than most), the contracts not going to be worth it. Marshawn is only 29 with not a lot of use in his first couple years and his body is giving out on him. I mean I guess that's why you don't even want to sign a runningback. Draft one, let him finish out his rookie contract then draft a replacement and continue the cycle unless a once in the lifetime talent is there.
It's going to be tough to see Ivory go. It's been so fun watching this guy run for the last couple of years
That def makes the most sense. Fournette would be the ideal guy for me but its tough to see what will happen a year from now. He looks like the next great runner though. If Ivory would come back on a 1 year deal Id be all for that. Doubt that would happen for obvious reasons. To me it would be a wasted pick if we targeted a RB in this draft.
I'm thinking we go OT/OG/ILB/RB in whatever order the value is there. I'm staying away from every quarterback that isn't Connor Cook too and I'm not sold on him as a high value draft pick. Every other quarterback in this draft seems to be coming from a one read and throw offense and there's too many questions on reading defenses and such. Unless the coaching staff really thinks Paxton Lynch is the next Joe Flacco or Jared Goff is suddenly going to be able to play well against quality opponents, Cook seems like the safest bet although he seems to project more to a game manager. Or if they want to grab Cardale as late as the 3rd and plan to ride Fitzpatrick for another 2 years til one of these guys is ready. I also think we stay away from quarterback knowing that we essentially have a two year window to make a strong run. Edit: Anyone who has more info on this stuff and watches more college football than me please chime in. I watch but probably not nearly enough to evaluate players like Lynch and Goff. I mainly watch top 25 teams. I wonder what the consensus on the QB class is.
