He's not anything special. Might as well just resign Ivory. Doug Martin is the cream of the FA crop. Theoretically, RB is one of the last positions I'd want to spend big money on though.
He's a little more durable than Ivory is IMO. I also like that he has better hands out of the backfield. If it's between Ivory for 5 mil or Miller for 6.5 I'd take Miller all day Martin is gonna get a big payday after the year he's having.
The time for buying low on Doug Martin was the past couple of years. He's regained his rookie year form, and will get a nice payday from someone if Tampa won't pony up.
It should also be noted that next year is a great year for RBs. I think 3 could get picked in Rd 1 (Chubb, Fournette, and Cook) There is also Jalen Hurd, Royce Freeman, and Samaje Perine coming out.
Mac is going to try to keep our Thunder and Lightning Duo we got now...they both on pace for record years. Really,Who else is out there? Do we start being a Chip Kelly and get fancy? That said , I think he will try to meet their true worth in $ If one or both get greedy well then he will take it from there BTW Mac plays it BPA in the Draft doesn't he?
Ivory is going to make it through this year and he only missed one game if I'm not mistaken, we saw the drop off from Ivory when Powell came in for him, the run game was non existent. Powell is not the answer just because he is cheap, he has had a couple of decent plays this year but he was also injured. Mac would be making a big mistake by keeping Powell over Ivory.
Mac's gonna have his hands full this off season balancing the roster and payroll. We're probably going to have to let some guys go, we'd like to keep and/or keep players we'd like to let go, in order to bring in players in other areas.
Sadly they might finally be realizing they should commit to Lamar Miller after clearing out Philbin and Lazor who both hated him, he's gotten far more work the last two weeks. Cro's probably going to be a one and done this point, they're going to need SOME cap space back to deal with that FA list.
Both are important , but it's also important not to make the same mistake that the Cowboys did ,in thinking Randle would equal Murray's production just because they have a good oline.
True but it's no coincidence that Thomas Jones and Shonn Green had career years behind the 09-10 line?
I think a good Olineman will be there when the jets pick in the first round, RB can be had in the 3rd, I think Josh Ferguson of Illinois should be there for the taking, he is a Sproles type of player, if we could resign Ivory, draft a good Olineman with a late first round pick, and pick up Ferguson we should be in good shape. Jmo
Both are def important no doubt. But TJ was a professional back. Were his number inflated a little due to a great oline? For sure. But he knew how to benefit from that oline too. Not every RB can be put behind a great oline and put up career numbers.
