As you can tell, we're not in a mood to be patient, we want to see instant high end contributions form every player from the get-go, however unrealistic it is. Pryor might well be a very good member of the secondary as he adjusts to the NFL, Aboushi and some of the late rounders might surprise, but we're in a myopic state of mind, so they're busts obviously. I'm really hoping Aboushi will be proof positive that making snap judgments is a silly thing to do. time to dream of having answer at guard, and one attained in a solid drafting strategy to boot.
If Aboushi looks good for the rest of the year, I'd be ok with him starting, and letting Winters and Dozier compete for the RG spot.
Or we use some money and sign Iupati. Winters and Aboushi can compete for the other guard spot. Dozier can be groomed to be Brick's replacement, or replace Breno.
What we all have to remember is that the core (obviously) of your football team is 11 starters on offense and 11 starters on defense. If Idzik finds 2 - 3 starters in the draft every year, and 2 - 3 starters in free agency every year, then we will be on pace to be a top team in the AFC very soon. By starters I don't mean David Nelson or Kyle Wilson either. I am talking legit NFL players like Ivory, Decker, and Amaro.
Dozier doesn't have NFL caliber tackle skills, definitely not left tackle skills. He is destined to play guard or possibly compete with Dalton Freeman as Mangold's eventual successor.
Either way, he's a good prospect. It would be awesome if he worked out at guard because then the Jets can use that money to bring in the best WR in free agency, 2 corners, and still have alot of money left over.
If Aboushi shows he deserves the starting spot through the end of this season, let Winters and Dozier have a competition for the other guard spot this offseason
