If it was just that simple. 7 weeks in and we're a worse team than week one. That indicates something far more problematic than an "off day".
fans over-react. we go from amazing and unstoppable to complete shit in 1 week in fans eyes. the real version is a shade of grey, not so black or white. and that pats have done this to everybody so far this season. they have the highest point differential since the original 1920 season. if sam bounces back next week against the jags nobody will blink an eye. don't get caught up in the nonsense. I predicted 2-6 to start the season anyway personally and that was before the mono, and falk, and all the other injuries. we are 1-5 with the next 2 games against the medicore jags and the awful fins. 2-6 is still very likely. fans just need to curb their excitement and be more realistic
Ordinarily I never do that but honestly even I have to say that to some degree that really DID happen this week. I guess maybe the "amazing and unstoppable" part might be a little overstated (a couple ratchet clicks down from that maybe but still pretty darn good by our standards) but the "complete shit" part is I think exactly what we were looking at yesterday. Its not just the loss, its the magnitude of the ineptness. Also neatly woven into the tapestry of horror was the timing aspect (things were finally starting to look hopeful last weekend) and also the Darnold aspect. Our best hope maybe ever at a true franchise quarterback is finally back, appeared healthy last week, all of us are so hopeful that he's finally about to take off and then its just INT after INT off the back foot all god damn night. That made things more even more deflating. Tough day to be a Jet fan. I'm actually not worried about Darnold. I think that was just a tough night/learning experience/reality check and he'll be OK once we get an offensive line put together.
this is a write off season though. nobody expected to make the playoffs. we've suffered a ton of injures plus a couple of suspensions. the o-line was weak to start off with. so weak we lured a C out of retirement who has been awful. and we have our 3rd round rookie starting one game at RT then the next game at LT. shell had to play LT last week when he's enver done that. osemele is fighting to get surgery and refusing to play. Quincy hurt his neck again. Avery was on IR before the season started. mosley has played less then 6 quarters this season. we had 5 ILBs to start the year and we are down to 2. we've been missing both OLBs a majority of the season. CB is a weak point. Darnold is in year 2 and has had strep throat, mono, and now lost a toe nail. This is a team that was always looking towards 2020, but with the injuries it's become even more apparant and hopeful fans feel let down due to their own poor expectations
It's a pretty solid investment. Woody bought the Jets for $635M in 2000. This "food truck" is now worth around $3B. Not bad...
Especially for a team that hasn't won the big one in almost 50years. Then again, perhaps winning the big one really isn't the goal for the Johnsons as long as the Jets print money.
The problem is that the Dallas game was the outlier, not the New England game. The 2019 New York Jets were not, are not and will not be "amazing and unstoppable." That was just wishful thinking by blind people; a lighter shade of gray than the deep, dark charcoal that this season is colored.
The only thing worse than sitting through that game last night would be sitting through that game last night AND torturing myself further by listening to Joe & Evan. You guys are real masochists .
I actually like Joe and Evan. Its just, this season's Jets talk (except after the Cowboys win) has been pretty much a repeat every week of Joe's moaning about the same shit. I'm starting to like Maggie and Bart a little more because Bart is fucking awesome. Loved that guy on the Jets, love him on the radio.
I say let Joe and Evan rant and rant and rant some more until the foolish Fans who show up at MetLife finally get it...STOP paying for tickets If you don't like what Beningo had to say ...even if repetitious..then something is wrong with all of you! He's description was absolutely spot on and actually relieved some of The bad doldrums I was having after this pathetic let down by Gase , Darnold and the entire Sand Lot Rejects called the Jets Maybe you guys don't like Joe Bs personality but his Content was really accurate...especially how the Stadium was empty at end, except for added humiliation Pats Fans Adam Gase continues to go from bad to worse ...this crap can Coach after 4 years of enduring Bowles and Mac. ! Ugh The coaching is the Pits..and I agree Williams should be named HC. I give Joe D 1 Free Agency and Draft to decide on him In the meantime Fans need to send a message and stop paying for Garbage >>>Let's end the Johnsons Con Game NOW
Anyone else daydream about having enough money to buy the team? As for Joe and Evan, i honestly think this fanbase is nearing it's breaking point. I can tell I difference these last couple years in myself I'm not just upset I'm legit angry and getting to the point of not caring
Apathy is starting to creep in for me too. I'm just not as emotionally vested in the Jets as I used to be. That's why next season will tell the tale for me. I don't get too high or too low anymore and when you stop getting excited, the next stop is not caring..
