Tom E. Curran of CSNNE says the Amandola trade was done on Tuesday. I'm paraphrasing because this was on TV.

According to Curran, The Pats made an offer to Welker of $10M plus incentives that would make the deal $16mil.

When Welker's agent said they were going out to test the market the pats figured he was gone, and knew there was interest in Amandola around the league. Nervous about losing both, they had Amandola in the building Tuesday.

After they got the offer from the broncos, Welker's agent went back to the Pats yesterday afternoon to either revisit the Pats prior offer or see if they would match. The Pats said it was too late, they already had made a contractual obligation to someone else.

Sad to see Welker go but this goes with the territory if you're a NE fan. Belichick would rather lose a guy a year or two early than a year or two too late.

    They'll be fine.
