No doubt about it. The posted link even highlights something Rex said the other day. When he was asked about having "his pick" in this year's draft much like last year, he said he did and it was an offensive guy. Rex added being that his pick would be a player for the offensive side of the ball...you know it would be an offensive player with a defensive player's mentality. This was without a doubt a Rex Ryan pick.
That sure is an encouraging write up. Does that guy have a decent track record in regards to draft coverage? BTW the Jets front office was doing a lot of dick wagging over this pick when they showed the war room.
I was sorta bitchy about the pick when they first announced it, but I think I'm coming around. As awesome as LT was at the start of the season, he wore down pretty badly in the second half. I thought Greene and McKnight would make for a good 1-2 punch, but McKnight is a bit iffy. I'm hearing a lot of good things about this Powell kid from all the "draft experts", so hopefully that'll increase the chances the Jets will have at least 2 capable RBs on track come playoff time.
Damn, watching that video you can see his vision and cutting ability are top notch. Was he an under the radar prospect?
I'm sorry...I forgot which thread somebody mentioned this, but someone posted the fact that they see Thomas Jones in Powell. I think that is not a good comparison. Thomas Jones cannot make the cuts and moves this guy does. He couldn't even make those type of cuts in his prime years. So, it is a bad comparison.
if he can play special teams i dont see the problem with carrying 4 rb's especially since we wont keep the same amount of te's next year
Yeah I will send you my Audubon guide, of particular interest is the yellow ringtailed cock wagger I saw in the war room, very rare indeed.
love this pick and like Rex i believe you can never have too many good RB's. Powell looks like he could be stealing McKnights carries by midseason if McKnight doesnt get into gear. Powel has great vision, cutback ability, and to me with his balance and willingness to initiate contact he plays like hes 225. lets just hope he can stay healthy and we'll be looking at a steal.
Well, I will admit it, I am shaking my head at this pick. But I will welcome him with open arms and wish him well. Picking out another body for the OL or DL would have been nice.
You homer is there a pick you didn't like? You must have been spraying lots of beer all over your house with all this celebrating..................hahahahahaha
Was watching NFL network, and Charlie Casserly said that Powell was the "best value" of round 3. Jus sayin...
Some of you are so short sighted. LT has 1 year left if that. What is wrong with developing a RB and letting McKnight focus on returns?
ESPN is trying to spin this as a bad thing by saying that Greene and McKnight are the reason why we made this pick. Why does everything the Jets do have to have negatice connotations? We made the pick because Powell is a good player: end of story!
The longer the day goes on the more I like this pick. Our 2012 running game is going to seriously hurt people. That's what NFL coaches are for. He'll learn to keep that ball high and tight or Rex will be eating members of his family.
That youtube video of Powell during is 85 yard td is sick. I can definitely see this guy in the playoffs making runs like that, reminds me of Shonn Greene his rookie season towards the end of the year. I for one love this pick. Wish I would've seen the reaction everyone is talking about in the war room. Rex, Tanny and the rest of them know what they are doing. It wil all work out in the end.
