Yeah….I think our next pick should be WR…and honestly I wouldn’t mind a trade up with some of these extra picks we now have from the Zach and Minn trades to move up into round 2 or maybe even back end of round 1 to get a WR. If we can keep Rodgers upright, which I feel MUCH better about having a strong option to come in when Smith gets hurt, we have GW, Breece, Conklin, and shit AR made Lazard look serviceable so maybe he can do a little. would still love to add a WR next and push Lazard to WR3 as well
Fine pick. Was very pro pass catcher to actually go all in but the team is in a better spot going into 2025. And he gets to learn from Tyron and Morgan Moses. Good people to learn from. Go get Polk and let’s cook. 72 and 2 4s to get up to 50
Everyone had us going Bowers but I am very happy we decided to shore up or OL. If we can't protect Rodgers it doesn't matter who is available to catch passes. It always all starts up front.
Not disappointed in the pick at all, huge need for this team! Unfortunately, (yes the dark side must come out) it's JD calling the name and his record is less than stellar. Not to mention this team has probably one of the worst o-line coaches in ALL of football, high school included. That's huge considering this kid is green and is going to need coaching, which I might add, is NOT the responsibility of the aging all world Tyron Smith.
Olu #7 on Connor Rodgers' board: https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/news/...1-taliese-fuaga-into-top-10-of-final-rankings Consensus all American, 21 years old, no injury history. These who say we won't need him this year, don't you remember what happened last three years? Not one, not two, but last 3 years OT3 ended up playing all year, and a lot of playing time even down the depth chart. Do we really want to repeat the same mistake? If there was top 3 WR left, perhaps things could have been different. But all 3 were gone, and Olu was far and away the best remaining choice, and a very good one at that.
Sigh! Or should I say, "Whew." I haven't read others comments yet, just a few thoughts... This tells me that JD is back in his brain, after losing it (or doing what he was told) with the AR soap opera. He's found his way back to a plan. I'm ecstatic that the organization chose to build toward the future, even as they're in a tepid "all-in" mode. A grade A to the Jet's organization, for getting their guy, & also some ammunition to move up, if someone of consequence pops-up when they're up. My big reservation with the Jets, is Saleh. He's made such a mess of the offense, & just has no football instincts. But that's for another day. Today, I'm just pleased how things have been smoothed out on the OL. And now there's some young depth, with some experience, to learn from the vets, who we hope stay on the field. One last thought... keep JJ McCarthy in-mind... he's very possibly the guy the Jets would've drafted, had they been in this same position, had they not gone the AR route. Obviously, this is total imaginary thought, but in a parallel universe, where JD stuck to his rebuild "plan," McCarthy would be Zach's successor. A good day in Jetsland... thank the Great Gazoo they didn't draft Bowers... .
Plenty of WRs available in FA like Boyd, Goodwin, OBJ, Corey Davis, Michael Thomas not to mention the rest of the draft. This was the smart move. We know more than anything last couple years you can't find starting OL off the street when you're desperate.
There never was a Bakhtiari dream. If the Jets had signed him, it would have been a nightmare. The guy is made of glass. He's less likely to stay healthy than T. Smith. Over the last 3 seasons, he's played a grand total of 13 games. (1 - 11 - 1), and only played 12 games in 2020.
Hey, you know we rarely agree on method, but I think we agree on how we want the team built. Couldn't agree more with your post... cheers... .
It's because Brick was a great pass protector but not very good as a run blocker. Fashanu is a better pass protector than he is a run blocker.
Damn! The effing Panthers took Legette! He's worthy of being a 1st round pick, but I can't stand the Panthers.
If he blocks like his mom Aaron should feel nice and safe! https://x.com/_MLFootball/status/1783690441050743026
Jeremy Ruckert is happy about the pick at 11. Bowers will be good, it just depends on how the Raiders will use him without a QB.
I heard Saleh in the draft room when they called Fashanu tell him that they had him in their crosshairs the whole time. Fashanu is who they wanted and planned to draft.
