It's the draft, that magical time of the year everyone becomes a talent scout and figures they can say whatever they want because the love/hate the pick. "I hate this pick, terrible (insert skill or trait here." "I love this pick, fantastic (insert skill or trait here."
I agree, once in a lifetime opportunity with 2 picks in the top 10 and they end up with a corner and a flawed receiver “Focus drops” and “poor route running” , for Garrett Wilson. Who does that sound like Edge rusher has been a need for 20 years
Someone else who apparently doesn’t know who Garrett Wilson is. It’s amazing you could get something so wrong when there’s so much information available at your fingertips.
Garrett Wilson is a more athletic Calvin Ridley and we’re really saying he’s a poor route runner? Ooooooooooookay. Love this pick, didn’t think we’d get him.
Giants schooled the Jets. With 2 picks in the top 10, you take cornerstone linemen like that. Corners, receivers, they are a dime a dozen. Literally, how many of them were traded away this off-season
Oh, stop... We've already invested a ton In the OL and DL. We aren't done yet either I'm sure. Relax... Dime a dozen... When was the last time we had a 1,000 yard receiver? When was the last time we've had strong CB play? It's been awhile. We need impactful weapons, we've accomplished that with the first two picks. With two, two's left. This was an A+ 1st round for me. Easily.
I can easily agree w/you and actually do but ask this, Which was the greater need for this current roster? I'm a 100% trenches guy but if JD thinks we are good enuff on o-line and KT was the 3rd best PR on the board then I can see what they were thinking. But ask this, of the 4 players, how many of them would plug right in? IMO, it's the 2 they drafted. They believe Lawson and MB have the spots locked so...let's see. If the rooks aren't day 1 starters then you can start questioning wtf they were thinking. I think the salt is the Gnats doing what we wanted to do...lol
Lawson and Becton can’t be counted on. But even if they could I don’t think you should be drafting based on short term situations when it comes to the top 10 in the draft. oh well, I’ll try not to shit on it anymore and try to be excited for Garrett Wilson
I really, really, really love JD taking a dynamic talent like Wilson that gives us a chance to get one of Those Guys catching the ball from a homegrown, cheap angle. Hoping like crazy it works out that way. I love Moore, and if Zach is a cornerstone, you can kind of see the offense falling into place to be elite...if things pan out. You can see the path/vision.
For every gleaming scouting report you can find a counter point. I will stick with my bad pick thought, Like always I will hope I am wrong but I am usually not when it comes to Jets WR picks, I was one of the few who hated the OSU WR Devin Smith pick. “Among other things, Wilson can round off his routes on occasion, and he still has a notable amount of wasted motion. He can be more refined as a route runner in the future. The Ohio State WR is also prone to focus drops when he anticipates contact. Interestingly enough, this happens most often in the short range, where Wilson might feel more vulnerable to looming defensive backs. It also happens to Wilson when trying to corral sideline catches at times.” Weaknesses Linear release will get touched up by press. Takes off without a clear route plan. Needs better route adjustment in traffic. Route-running is raw and segmented. Sloppy footwork in and out of intermediate break points. Hindered by elongated stem and excessive stutter-stepping. Suffered from focus drops near the sideline.
I'm good with this pick. Garrett Wilson has skills that translate to elite play. I think this guy and Moore will feed off each other. This wasn't an overdraft and as much as I would prefer defense, we needed a receiver like this in the worst way.
Best receiver and by far the most polished. I'll take it, welcome to the Jets. A Wilson to Wilson combo for the next decade is much welcomed.
If Lawson isn't on the field we have problems. Bechton AT LEAST showed a glimpse of how he can dominate....so there IS some hope but the same thing can be said Of Corey Davis and any DB the JETS have. Nothing from the 4 positions at all over the last few years. Bottom line is we could have gone either way but by going this way if MB and Lawson actually pan out then this move can work out big time.... unfortunately we're JETS fans and we've seen this shit before..lol
His stutter step is what throws corners off so often and its part of why he's open so much. Not sure how that is a weakness. The guy improvises so well, his style is pretty unorthodox. That scouting report is kind of reaching.
If Lawson and Becton play at least 12 games each, it seems like we just had a strong first round. And if they don't, we were effed anyway.
