Really love this pick Yes, he is inaccurate but he is an intelligent Qb. Foot work/throwing motion are an easier fix then brains. Sit him for a year or two and let him compete with Petty. Jets need a Franchise QB, so keep drafting QBs until we find one.
Decent year? His freshman year was awesome. And the excuses are legit for reasons that have already been discussed.
I look at the pick this way. Is there anyone in that spot that would have made the Jets a super bowl contender? If no, Hackenberg being good is the only one that checks that box. Not saying he will be great, but as a QB, he's the only dude that would make a true difference. It's choosing between getting marginally better and becoming great/or nothing happens. So boom or bust over not much of a difference? I'll go with boom or bust

Dave Rothenberg defended the Hackenberg pick earlier today. He said the Jets need a franchise QB to be a consistent winner, so we should take a serious shot every year until we hit on one.
Still watching, but this might be Hack's best non-freshman year game. It's the Illinois game from this past year. He was solid, and it's also a highlight reel of incompetence from his teammates. WR's dropping chest high passes, o-line getting run through all day..

Only other QBs would provide the biggest difference makers. I didn't say that. I said that you're choosing between boom or bust and marginal improvement. And I said I'd choose boom or bust in this case.
We are an old win now team and you want boom or bust? How many boom Qbs have there been that sucked in college? How many inaccurate Qbs boom in the NFL?
First the choice isn't boom/bust QB or marginal improvement elsewhere that's fucking ridiculous and sad attempt to rationalize this pick. There will be many position players that will be great improvements for their teams. Second for every risky player that booms there are a thousand that bust. Boom/bust is for the later rounds. Day 1 and 2 are for proven studs to build your team around. Whiffing on those picks consistently is what bad teams do.
Penn St vs Temple last year. Look at the amount of poor throws that Hack makes while under no pressure. Look at the amount of times that he holds onto the ball for too long. Yes, his O-line let him down a few times, but that's to be expected in any game in college or even the NFL. He will have to improve a tremendous amount in order to even be a backup-caliber qb.
