so true. Vereen is way more versatile, more explosive, and a better fit to that offense imo.. He'll create some mismatches. Ridley would have been pounding into a wall.. Anyone know if the rain will be a big factor? that could actually play to our benefit.
The last weather report had the times move up. The heaviest rain is now supposed be over by 6. It's certainly pouring now. We'll see.
decent point. i do worry about the weather further enabling our propensity toward turning the ball over. every snap, every throw, and every punt return will no doubt have me gasping for air. The Patriots are less apt to make unforced mistakes. on the flip side though, it can turn things into more of an old school ground game. that favors our oline, dline, and Ivory, while taking some heat off our porous secondary. If you don't have to worry as much about the deep ball, you can also tee off more on Brady. As we all know, get pressure up the middle, and get traffic around his legs......then watch him bitch out his teammates and the refs. once you see that, you've got them... all things considered, i'll take rain.
i think we need both a natural pass rush, plus some blitzing. there was a lot of overreaction to blitzing against SD. I rewatched every third down of that game. while we showed blitz most of the time, we only sent 4, or 4 plus an ILB almost the entire time. Our secondary couldn't cover anyone, Rivers got the ball off very quickly, and had some real pretty passes in there even when coverage was decent. ultimately, we had no answers for that offense, which was disappointing. But it wasn't really due to this perceived notion of excessive blitzing. Against Denver, we rushed only 3 for most of game. Those 3 did a real good job at getting some pressure though. It was a better game plan than SD, and better executed, but Manning still picked apart our coverage. If it rains during this game, i'd like to see more of the SD approach of rushing 4, and sending Harris/Davis occasionally up the middle. Have to get Brady off that spot, and get traffic around his legs. The Pats don't have as much of a deep game to worry about as our last 2 opponents. However, if it's not working, and they are effectively playing the quick release/short pass game, then you have to adjust to more underneath zone, rushing only the Dline. In either event, we need the Dline executing well, and disrupting Brady's game.
agreed, but Denver D is also quite good agains the run. They avg 76 ypg allowed on the ground, while the Patriots avg 111 ypg allowed on the ground. 111 ypg is actually not that bad, but it will be easier than against Denver, and they just lost Mayo.
They have turf now. Ever since a certain 2006 game in which they lost solely because of the condition of the field...
I think we lose 30-13. Geno will struggle, Brady has a good game. Turnovers hurt the Jets again.......
Ok so I'm working tonight so I'll miss the first quarter of the game so big fucking deal, right. What a great loss. I also warned my wife that there's a Jets game tonight so there won't be any distractions. As you all know those type of declarations have their price. So am I willing to pay it. She sees how miserable I am after these games and pounces on it. Talk to you later tonight.
wouldn't mind seeing either Chris Johnson or Bilal Powell a little more in the passing game tonite. where have the screen passes gone?
Call me stupid, but this game isn't going to be a blowout. Don't be surprised if it comes down to the last possession. The weather will be a bigger factor than people think. Brady is good only in the snow, not particularly in the rain.
