Odds are, if the Jets lose, they'll be picking 3rd, and if they win, they'll be picking 4th. Winning will do a lot for the Jets this off season-- the 2.5% chance of getting the 1st overall pick is a pipe dream.
Indeed the Jets winning on Sunday would be worth it. I believe that having the Pat's as the #3 or #4 seed would severely reduce their chances of making the Super Bowl. Although they haven't been the same Pats this year, they will still be dangerous so making them play another game is good. Giving a spot or two in the draft is OK assuming Darnold, Herndon, Anderson show up very well in Foxboro. Perhaps a great performance by Darnold opens up a potential HC candidate to consider the Jets. Another great thing would to turn the tables on the Pat's and have a Jet TE become "unstoppable". The only issue I see is if the owners decide to keep Bowles because of the win. Therefore, my hope is that Bowles (in an unprecedented show of emotion) gets thrown out of the game early and the Special Teams takes over and leads the Jets to victory .
This is my very sincere hope for Sunday. I want a Jet fan from this forum who lives in New England to get tickets to the game and make a banner saying "Win this for Namath". Then I want to be watching the game and during a non-TV timeout, while the Jets are winning 42-3 in the fourth quarter, I want the camera to pan to the crowd and show the sign. Afterward, I want the announcers to mention something about Joe - not knowing the true meaning behind the sign. I will then picture Kurt with a shit-eating grin on his face and know that all is good in the world .
Good question, but forcing the Patriots to play on Wild Card Weekend would be great. They would likely play the Colts too, which is not a given they would win. I could see Luck outscore Brady. They would easily beat the Titans if they win though. The problem is the Jets might not be good enough to win Sunday. Sam is, he and Anderson are on fire. No Quincy, no Kearse, no Claiborne, etc and no one is sure how seriously the team will even take the game. So I would love to see the Jets win, but not sure they can. On the other hand, Bowles should know this is his last stand, so he should be more aggressive and take more chances. Keyword: should.
If we can ruin things for the Pats, it is worth it. On the other hand a win could push us all the way down to 9th. I'd rather stay at three, it's a good position to trade down from. We could get three picks for it with the right buyer.
That was big but the Jets choked the following week and missed the playoffs. They ain't going this season. Difference would be NE still finished with the #2 seed in 2015 and went to the AFC Championship game. A loss this week more than likely knocks them out of the #2 spot and could lead to their consecutive AFC Championship game appearances streak ending this season. That's why I say a Jets win this week would be their biggest win over NE/most damaging to NE since the 2010 playoffs victory.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!!!! I hope Brady gets drilled into the dirt 25 times tomorrow and they have to go on the road in the divisional round and get smoked by the Chiefs or Texans
Brady has been dog poop lately Same thing happened towards the end of last year but the bye week rejuvenated him for the playoffs. Their season is over if they lose tomorrow.
Since we weren't going to win the SB with a 20yr old rookie QB and Bowles as our HC, I assume you've been cheering against the Jets every game this season?
GO JETS!!! We all know the draft is a crap shoot. A loss buys you nothing with this fan base. Winning this game is not impossible. Show up. Put the helmet on. Tighten that chin strap. Grab some New England dirt. Go down swinging...glory be thine me boys! GO JETS!!!
New England is to the NFL what Ted Kennedy was to Mary Jo Kopechne. Think about it: they've cheated the game at ever turn just like Teddy-the-drunkard cheated M-Jo out of life. But since you provincial, racist sots excused 'The Lion' back then it stands to reason that you'd have no problem giving the Foxborough Frauds the same pass. Wicked. Your pill-popping owner's disrespecting poor ashes-to-dust Myra and your coach???.....he's a philandering, home-wrecking cheat who taught his affected QB how to cheat as well. Stop cheating. For once. .
I assume you didn't actually read my post you quoted, which frankly, when your post is some kind of accusatory nonsence you probably should have done.
The fact that anyone could want us to lose to the Pats is crazy to me, especially given the fact we have a good chance to knock them out of the bye. You're a fraud if you're actively rooting to lose this game for a draft pick.
Wow. This is extreme. Not every Jets fan has to think the same way. I root for Jets to win but I have friends who wants to secure #2 or #1 pick as it might help land Bosa or more picks. I wouldn’t call these fans frauds.
Of course, my comment was mostly tongue-in-cheek. Although I do understand why some fans want us to lose vs NE, I just cannot stomach the thought of rooting to lose against them. It was one thing when we played Tennessee or Green Bay, but not NE.
