The Pats came in and jumped on us and scored and stopped us. They had a much better game plan going in and they were better prepared to deal with us than we were to deal with them. We adjusted to them, they didn't have to adjust to us.

Some of that is just learning our system and executing it better but some of it is what we were prepared to see and didn't see from the Pats.

We didn't get out-coached in my view. The problems were D-Rob's inability to play the nose against a good rushing attack and Derrick Blaylock's inability to play tailback. We'll see these resurface later in the season.

The only moments all day when I seriously questioned the coaching staff's judgement were when they went too long with D-Rob at NT before replacing him and when they took the timeout on defense with the timer running down on Brady, 4:09 to go and the clock stopped. Huge waste of a timeout unless the Jets had 12 men on the field.

The first half even part of the second. Our Offense (chad) OC, had no clue about what to do against that new wrinkle to the Pats D. Obviously we planned to play against a 3-4 but got a version of the 4-3. Penny had a good game, however the fact remains they took a long time to figure out what the pats were doing behind that front 4. When you keep a team off balance, is that being outcoached? out gameplanned? BTW, I agree the adjustments were good. I love my team and hope for big things in buffalo next week.

It did get us 3 yards on a 1st and 10.

I do think we saved ourselves 4 points by getting that TO called when NE had the ball on our goal line and we were trying to get our linemen on the field late. The Pats ended up with a FG when they surely would have punched it in with us in disarray.

You expect to be able to run for 3 inches with your back. I would rather not throw Penny into that pile if I can help it, I don't mind that playcall. I dislike the execution of it, have to blame the O-line on that play. Absolutely no push whatsoever. All we needed was 3 inches...pretty sad.

Next time though, we should just play action there on almost the same play. The problem is I bet we didn't have any WRs running routes on that play (I didn't see the game, just listened to it on the radio). Can anyone comment on the formation?

belichick confused us with afew looks no doubt.....BUT...the players lose the game my friend.....we have no nose tackle...that was the biggest reason for our demise...as far as them throwing to the HB and TE all day....we dont have enough linebackers that can cover....would you rather we had put corners on them????? we dont match up that well right now against that team...but to think it doesnt have anything to do with the players and that its the coaches fault is retarded

adjustments - at halftime - what a novel idea!

That alone proves to me we're headed in a better direction than we were under the previous regime.

We're neophytes as a team - learning a new system - versus a veteran team with Super Bowl Trophy's and a history together under the same HC. How can you compare?

I see progress, that's what matters most - and our coaches will keep getting better too!

    Out-coached is too strong.

I think the telling factors were O-line not creating holes; D-line not stopping their run - too many 5 - 7 yarders, Chad out of bounds at the half, the Graham shank.

I think that is really it.

I think D-Rob on defense and Katnik on offense had a lot more to do with the loss than our coaching staff. We played much better when both players were riding the bench in the second half.

I know. I think it comes down to the fact that they have a great O line and a great D line and their LBs aren't too shabby. You cannot call either of the Jets lines great. And their LBs are as a group just OK. 24-17--I won't say I will take it but I am not disappointed too much. Until our OL rookies mature, and we get a better guard tandem, and we actually get a decent RT, we will struggle. Sean Ellis hasn't been heard from in 2 years. DRob is out of position, and Kimo is old. There is no comparison here.

I give Mangini and his staff an incredible amount of credit for refocusing the Jets during halftime and making the adjustments on offense that allowed us to get back into the game (mainly keeping tight ends in to help protect Pennington, and moving the ball underneath a little more.)

At the same time the Jets were inexcusably unprepared to start the game and the playcalling in general was uninspired and predictable for most of the game, especially with the soft coverages on defense. You can make excuses all you want but the bottom line is this: for most of the game the Jets looked uninspired and that is unacceptable. I'm sure Mangini would agree with me.

That's the attitude a winner has. Too many people are happy in a loss. A winning team HATES losing. I'm hoping that Mangini is absolutely ripping into the team this week, and that they never want to lose again. Once that lesson is learned we will be fine. The most dangerous thing for this team right now is to get complacent and be happy to be within a TD of the Patriots. With that attitude, we will never ever beat them.

Exactly correct--I'm hesitant to label this a "rebuilding" season but it's certainly a growing experience for everybody (including the coaches) and mistakes are going to be made, especially against one of the best teams in football like New England. But that's no mistake for poor effort (defense) or preparation (just about everybody.)

Hopefully they learn from this and move on to winning games.
