1) I agree 2) I'm not ignoring his big run. I'm ignoring Don's argument that Jones did worse than Greene because of the 1.4:5 YPA ratio, respectively. The line was the ultimate problem, but saying Jones wasn't as good because he only had 1.4 YPC is skewed logic because 1 big run automatically brought Greene to a 5 YPA stat.
Well, to get this back on topic sort of.. Banks only rates Clemens as the 12th best backup qb in the league. "12. Kellen Clemens, New York Jets -- It doesn't take much reading of the tea leaves to figure out that Mark Sanchez's future is now, and that means Clemens figures to lose yet another Jets QB competition. Now in his fourth season in New York, Clemens knows the system and has shown flashes of being able to spark the offense in past relief appearances. He did start three of the Jets' four wins in 2007." http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/don_banks/08/20/backups/1.html
Each of them were pretty limited in what they could have done. Greene got a gaping hole and made the most of it. Sweet. Jones Scored a TD that he damn near gave away. Sweet. So all I'm saying is it was pretty equally a shitty running game that night due to the line.
Not so much, no. It was a gaping hole Greene got through. Without that run they looked pretty much the same to me.
My only logic in what I said was that nobody is talking about Jones. Secondly he didn't perform as good as Greene. That's just the way it is. Whether it was one run or spread out over 10.
Oh big time. Ok Let me do some Junc stat magic here (nothing against junc) OK Greene had 45 total yards on 9 attempts Jones had 13 yards on 9 attempts. So, that long run from Greene was 34 yards, in 1 play. So 8 plays to gain 11 yards after that is what? 1.3 Now, i don't like taking away plays but that hole Greene ran through was big enough for a truck with the exception of the back diving at him 5 yards past the LOS. I'm failry certain a guy like TJ would have been in pretty good position to gain 34 yards himself on that play.
Again, why are you taking away the run? He did a good job following his blockers, making a cutback and juking a guy out of his shoes.
I'm not taking it away from him. He did a great job on that run. But I don't see the point in using the YPA (said YPC at first. I think I said it in the other post as well haha) stat to judge who played better.
RB's are only as good as the guys pulling and pushing at the line to make holes. Clemens being ranked 12 "best back up", in my mind, means if the league had 12 more teams he'd be a starter somewhere. Good enough for me, considering he's about even with the rookie. Sanchez winds up with the start. He's getting adjusted, by next week he's 10/12. If Clemens is worth his weight in salt, he will be up there too. Ofcourse, if I'm right, the defense is going to need to work harder. =/
