See, here I can agree with you to a point. Bust talk aside, I want to see more from him as well. I like the way he runs, but so far there is nothing concrete in preseason to say he can handle the load full time or that the hard-hitting way he played the game in college will truly translate to the NFL. He kind of looked like Thomas Jones did behind our 2007 O-line, actually. 1 yard and a cloud of dust. I am waiting to see what he looks like behind an actual starting offensive line with receivers on the field that will keep a team from stacking the box.
Wow - the premature judgements are just flying all over the place around here - I guess that's how it goes in preseason, but WOW - this is just silly. I have high hopes for Greene but I don't feel like you can take too much out of his first preseason game. On pretty much all of the plays that he got stopped short it was because our O-line got pushed into the backfield - there were Rams all over our side of the line of scrimmage. If the guy is gonna break through the line, he has to at least have the chance to get up a head of steam first. Also, if we're going to be judging him on how he's going to do in the NFL, it's not exactly fair to look at his college career as proof of your judgements. It's a well known fact that guys who excel in college often bust in the pros and vice versa. It's only fair to judge Greene on his NFL performance, which thusfar consists of a handful of plays behind a backup line. Can we at least let the guy get one season behind him first before we start with the "bust" or "beast" labels. Sheesh! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but c'mon...
Asking fans to practice patience in the NFL is like asking Hitler to love a Jewish porn star. its thought about, and then quickly dismissed.
Have to agree with you on that one. I think more than learning anything about Greene or TJ, what we really found out in that game is that our backups on OL are not capable of holding down the fort at all. Let's just pray that our OL starters can stay healthy this season or we could be in deep trouble...
I agree but he at least had that one run. I don't see anybody even mentioning Jones and all of these worries about Greene seem unwarranted.
