I'm still unimpressed with Greene. The play 00:51 doesn't make me feel any better. The 3rd one in he hesitates. He leaves me cold and I'm thinking bust.
Not in this case. As soon as he was drafted I looked at film and the only thing that I caem away with was "wow awesome line"
You can hope all you want. I'm not saying its a sure bust, but if you think he's going to be great, i think you're fooling yourself. not my problem either way.
At 00:51 in there's a small cluster of guys with gaping holes on both sides..so what does he do? Runs into the cluster of guys and brought down. This is just preseason, blah blah blah...
Well then he should be great. The Jets have an awesome line too. Just look at what they did to make a mediocre Thomas Jones look like a star last year.
Being great, and being great behind a great line are two different things. So basically if we lose one of our starters he won't be great anymore? We know line depth is a problem, so as a back his only legacy will be the line he played with. That's fine for some players, but everyone around here is hanging off the guys stank pole thinking he's going to be the next jerome Bettis. Good luck.
So your basicly saying we drafted a Thomas Jones clone in the third round? I can live with that I guess. Saying Greene looked awful with 3 of our backups in if funny. He looked better than Jones that game.
He looked awful in that game, absolutely. You can take it for what it's worth. I know what I've seen from the guy, and I feel pretty confident with my judgement, right or wrong.
This is his first series in the NFL. He's a rookie from the 3rd round playing in his first game you can't expect him to be stellar. I'm not saying he is going to be a star either and I agree he had a great line in college but allow him to play with our starters on offense then complain he looked awful.

I think I'll give Shonn Greene a little longer than one preseason game before I start calling him a bust. no offense JJ...but you might want to cut back on the peyote :wink:

Did you look at any of his college footage? You didn't see him running through nothing but gaping holes and the D line knocked 5 yards off the LOS? I'm pretty sure that's what I saw. Again, if you guys wanna stroke him, that's cool. I'll wait and see on this one. I smell something, and it's not good.
How many running backs in college last year ran behind even better lines and didn't put up anywhere near the kind of numbers Greene did? There are always different ways to look at things.
Heh, but here's the difference...everyone here thinks he's going to be put in goal line situations to break through. Again, I may be wrong..I just don't think so.
