Well you just listed 2 of the most powerful defenses in NFL history, although you didn't mention how quickly those teams flamed out when their weaker offense weighed down the team.

Jets? A Superbowl Contender? Good Lord, its rebuilding time yet again for this sorry ass franchise. Last year was the final straw for me, with the trading for you know who(I do not even want to mention his HOF name). I said that day the Jets would miss the playoffs and got laughed at. They are and will continue to be a joke, and I am a life long fan(until last year with how they treated Chad. Karma is a bitch).

I can't wait for Mr. Bart Scott and his violent intentions to meet Tom Brady and his biomechanical knee!!

i love how people say we dont have a pass rush.....

listen....we rushed 3 down lineman with zone coverage....of course there was no pass rush....this was not a result of personell it was strategy. clemens will serve his purpose because our running game which is clearly an offensive strength is going to be the focus....

i feel great about the coming year so far however i remain guarded

i don't think Brady's velocity on his passes will be the same...

shame for a great career, but in the business of division rivals it makes me breathe easier...

the Jets were 2nd to the Steelers in week 11 in sacks... and then it all went away.

the right scheme with Ryan might actually make The Catcus look like a 1st rounder for one year.

Im not saying we can and will do it. What I am saying is, we won't suck with out em. If we have an excellent D, then we should be pretty good. The running game is good, OL is excellent, TE is developing out to be a good one, one good WR and two more WR that have shown glimpses of starting material.

We lost basically two players this yer. Favre and Coles. Coles would have been 32 or 33 next yr. Favre would have been 40. Im not shocked to see them leave. The way Favre and Coles played last year, we should be a pretty good team. We lost next to nothing on the D. Eric Barton maybe but he wasn't stellar. We got three new starters. Lito, Leonhard and the Mad Backer. Defense improved nicely in the off season this yr. The offense may have took half a step backwards but it is yet to be seen if Clemens can do anything in his 4th year. He should be heading towards his prime so if he can't do anything this yr, he's a done deal in 2010.

We still have the draft where WR issue can resolved (WRs can contribute immediately). Gholston should improve with his second off season. Not sure if he'd be great, but atleast he will get on the field and make a few plays. (we'll see about 10 new threads once he gets his first sack...against Brady hopefully and sending him packing yet again).

If we look at the Super Bowl history alone, we'll see that its mostly good defenses that reach the SB.

    2000: Ravens Giants
2001: Pats Rams (Pats had a very good D, plus Brady)
    2002: Bucs Raiders
    2003: Pats Panthers
    2004: Pats Eagles
    2005: Steelers Seahawks
    2006: Colts Chicago
    2007: Giants Pats
    2008: Steelers Cards

A common theme: Excellent Defense vs Excellent Offense in almost every SB since 2000. Most of those excellent Ds do pretty good if you can combine it with an avg or above avg offense.

what about all those HOF QBs?

who make magic in their own right?

defense wins championships, but its the QB who wins it in the final minutes. Who won last year, the defenses or the QBs. Warner/Fitz were nearly the heroes Ben/Holmes were.

okay im tired of all this bitching and whining about how this is not a good team. as i see it, either we stick with kellen or brett and draft a great wr at 17 OR we draft sanchez and still get a good wr int he second round because of the great depth at wr in this years draft. either way, we still have a solid run game and stout D, with a QB who can limit mistakes, we could do good things. also, id liek to point out that the core of the team is really developing. last year, there were many new pieces and additions that needed to become accustomed to eachother and now that they have, they could do great things. i look back to the titans win last year where favre played decently but not great and it was really the run game and D that ended up winning that game. favre was just there to minimize mistakes and i feel that any qb we put in there could do the same. overall, we still have time to address needs through the draft and free agency and i see us in the playoffs next year.

    Go Home!

You don't know that we don't have a quarterback. We haven't seen clemens play with a real offensive line yet. Ratliff is a possibility. I thought Ainge was a good draft choice I would like to hear more about him. We have receivers. Do you think we wont pick up another in the draft? I havent felt this confident in the Jets in a long time. I cant wait til next season, its going to be exciting jets football.

By the way, we do not need to pick up a receiver in the first round. We can most certainly wait until the second round and still get a prospect.
