I think Tomlinson is still under contract so probably smart to keep him too, but for sure both OT spots require a starting-caliber NFL player and it doesn't appear there are currently any on the Jets roster.

Tomlinson only redeeming quality is his health but he is horrendous.

I’m even weary of AVT —— guy has missed 2 seasons.

There a a lot of blame to go around, but it starts with OL….until we draft, pick up and generate consistent OL, we re not going anyway for several years.

Tomlinson has been hot garbage since the day we signed him.

He was hot garbage before we signed him. He just played between two future Hall of Famers in a contract year that masked his garbage play so he got a huge deal because he knew Saleh and LaFleur.

We did. We just drafted an overweight immature bust in Becton and an injury prone bust in avt

play him at guard. That’s where he should be.

This game was lost when Turner started at RT, the Jets been trotting out practice squad guys on the right side for the majority of this season not to mention how bad Becton has been on the left side. It’s been a mess and I don’t think any NFL team could withstand the injuries the jets have had on the OL.

That’s not bad at all, but don’t we kinda like Tipp at Center?

Becton isn't even a capable backup at this point honestly. Leads the league in sacks allowed. The rebuttal is that he's playing hurt. Well that's the freaking problem. The guy is always banged up then.

They were so bad yesterday , it reminded me of the longest yard. When Sandler pissed them off, and they purposely let the defense through. Is it possible they were naturally that bad?

For those that want to cut Tomlinson. It will leave ANOTHER hole to fill. I think everyone should take a look at the pending FA list. It isn't good. Jonah Williams is the best one and that isn't saying much. The cost to pay for average lineman is going to be killer (look at the contracts giving to Jawaan taylor and the insane contract the Commanders gave Andrew Wylie.

Outside of a handful of teams, everyone will be looking to upgrade the OL via FA and def in the draft

Tomlinson is just terrible and his contract is absurd. Cut him immediately

His spot can be filled by the guy they traded up into the 1st round to select, a guard named Alijah Vera-Tucker.

All those resources to play him out of position and wonder why he's hurt and we are stuck with a terrible, expensive guard instead. The GM botched this offensive line like no other

OK - AVT has been hurt for 2 years and WHO is playing the RG then. A 3rd round pick rookie?

I think you need to look at what it cost to pay these guys and your going to have to pay Lakens contract to someone else that could be worse

You can't cut him. You would save some money only to have to spend it back on the OL. They are already going to have a tough time figuring out the two T spots in FA/Draft, now you want to add another spot for them to fill? It isn't possible.

The Jets have 3/5 of their opening day starters playing assuming Tippman could’ve or would’ve started at center or guard at some point. They’ve been crushed at right guard and they have their backup swing tackle playing right tackle.

It hasn’t been good injury-wise but the thought that it’s been a disaster every where other than right guard is a mischaracterization of the situation. They just all mostly suck.

The Browns are equally in the depths of hell at tackle right now (they’re top 3 from camp are down) and they played their backup right guard and center yesterday after Bitonio got hurt. So one opening day starter.

    It happens around the league.

Fire Joe Douglas and Bob Saleh at 4:26 PM on January 7th

the new GM comes in and announces that everyone is playing the position they were born to play. Vera-Tucker is a left guard, Tippmann is a center. Laken Tomlinson is a snack bar attendant.. etc. no bullshit moving these guys around and playing them where they shouldn't.

He selects a left tackle with the top 10, top 5? pick that Saleh/Douglas gives him. The left side of the line is shored up. Schweitzer can play RG and he signs a RT in free agency. It is not going to be the very best line in the league in 2024 but it is the stability we are lacking and something to build around

Right now we're currently drafting 6th. Really needed Chicago & Tennessee to win yesterday.

    My ideas on a quick fix of the O-Line for 2024;
    1) Draft either LT of Fashanu (Penn St.) or Joe Alt (ND). We're currently 6th in 2024. We really needed Chicago & Tennessee to win yesterday. If both players are gone, - we're going to have to trade down to ensure we get Fuaga from Oregon St. (somewhere in very early teens). Fuaga currently plays RT & may very well do same in the NFL. Not going to follow the Becton plan in 2020 that backfired on us being obsessed only w/LT position to watch Tristan Wirfs become a top 2-3 RT in the entire NFL.
    2) Re-sign Connor McGovern. He'll turn 31 in April 2024. We just re-signed him 1yr for like $2 million so we can do same $$ for 2024. Tippman doesn't look ready to make calls & I'd rather not have such a youngster snapping to Rodgers. Tippman can certainly play guard. He's also been nicked up a little more often than I'd like.
    3) Sign Michael Onwenu. 5yrs / $90 million /$50 million total guaranteed. Just can't take another chance not protecting Rodgers. I have been against the Rodgers thing from the first mention of it. But now that we've jumped in the pool, - we should push all our chips in. New England playing their typical games of lowballing rookies moving to a long term contract. If they really wanted him, - they would've signed him long term by now. Onwenu has been dominant at times & has a great long track record when it comes to health. Putting him at RT but he's played a good amount at OG - so gives us flexibility in case we get bit by the injury bug again.

    2024 lineup
    LT ---------- Joe Alt
    LG --------- Alijah Vera-Tucker
    C ----------- Connor McGovern
    RG --------- Joe Tippman
    RT --------- Michael Onwenu

2024 3rd round draft pick is going to be the best O-line available --- possibly be Javon Foster (Missouri) ---- currently an OT but I'd put him at guard to start when we switch Tippman full time to center.

OK - Lets sort this out, you want

AVT - Who is always hurt and played tackle at USC to just keep in a G
Tippman - Who in 99% of schemes he would play guard due to his size and just play him at C
and to top is YOU WANT SCHEITZER TO START AT RG, a career backup
A rookie LT and a fringe starter/backup that is making probably more then Tomlinson at RT
